The red dress sparkled in the light as she twirled. Tonya admired herself in the mirror and began to sing.

"I feel pretty. . . I feel pretty. . .I feel pretty, and witty and gaaaayyyyy!!" Tonya trailed off as she saw one of her henchmen framed in the doorway of the ballroom.

"Boss. . .Mr. Roberts is here to see you. He said that you called and invited him over."

Tonya smiled and floated over to the sofa. "Yes I did, thank you Bart. Please send him in."

Bart looked uncomfortable in her presence has he did ever since. . well, since Tonya arrived. "Um, okay Boss. I’ll make sure to send him in immediately." Bart began quickly backing out of the room, eager to escape the sight in front of him that had become more and more frequent.

"Oh, hold on just a second Bart. I have been itching to go dancing. Would you be kind enough to escort me to the Blue Note tonight? I really need to get out of this place." Tonya smiled, slightly concerned at the horrified look that crossed Bart’s face.

"Um, me? You want ME to take you dancing?" Bart’s eyes widened in surprise.

Tonya smiled. Ahh, he was just a little nervous. "Of course Bart! I can’t think of anyone I’d rather go out with."

Bart flushed red, then scuttled to the door. "Whatever you say, ma’am."

Tonya smiled to herself as the doors clicked behind Bart as he rushed from the room. What a silly man. You’d think he’d never seen a lovely woman in a gorgeous dress before. She plucked at the row of red sequins lining the bodice. To think, she had originally wasted this exquisite piece of fashion on Samantha Brady.

Samantha Brady. There was one name that made Tonya furious. Sami had such potential, could have even been part of their future in the DiMera organization. While Antony was courting Miss Samantha he had presented her with this dress, but had since returned it when she chose Lucas over Tony. Not that Tonya blamed her, Lucas was a fine looking man. But really, what a waste. There was so much that could have been.

Since Samantha’s rebuff, Tony had disappeared. Tony had based his entire future within the DiMera organization on Miss Samantha. He planned to marry her, destroy Lucas as part of her wedding present, then ride off into the sunset with his blonde beauty at his side.

But all of that was gone. It turned out that Samantha hadn’t ever wanted Tony, she had just been trying to be nice. When Tony tried to bring her home to the mansion for a little after dinner drinking and pre-sleep screwing, she had screamed at him in a rage, calling him creepy and disgusting before storming off. The next day she returned every gift he had ever given her, and she married Lucas three months later.

Tony had been livid. Sami had been the center of his plan, his ultimate revenge on the Bradys. He certainly didn’t love Sami, but controlling her would have been lots of fun. And he had been hoping for some nookie that he didn’t have to pay for.

For some reason, women just didn’t find Tony attractive.

Tonya shook her head. Tony was gone, long gone. Ever since the gifts had been returned, Tony gave up and disappeared.

Tonya shrugged. Oh well, no since brooding over the past. She was anxious to see what Lucas Roberts was up to and if he would save her a dance at the Blue Note later that night.

Lucas stood in the doorway of the DiMera mansion impatiently. He had gotten a call from someone named Tonya just an hour before, demanding an audience with him for tea time. Lucas was baffled; he had no idea who Tonya was or why she was controlling the DiMera fortune.

Sami was already ticked at him for even coming over here. Ever since Tony had basically tried to rape her in the mansion, she had refused to allow anyone close to her near the DiMeras. She had run home in tears from the mansion that night and showed up at Lucas’ door, disheveled and panting from her sprint. Startled, he had immediately pulled her into his apartment, and she had never left. They had now been married for nearly six months, and after resigning from the DiMera organization, he had resumed his duties with the Horton Foundation and they had quietly built a life together in Salem.

Then out of the blue, this phone call from a woman with a squeaky voice claiming to be the new headmistress of the DiMeras. Sami hadn’t wanted him anywhere near the mansion, but he figured it was in their best interests to know what this woman wanted from them.

Finally, Bart emerged from the ballroom and closed the doors behind him. He looked rattled, but then, Bart never really looked put together.

"Um, okay Mr Roberts, thanks for coming. The Count-er, the Countess is waiting for you in the ballroom." Bart looked around, looking like he wanted to be anywhere but in that mansion.

"Bart, what is this? What is going on? Who the hell is Tonya?" Lucas wanted to get some sort of idea of what to expect before he went in. "I resigned from the organization; I didn’t want anything else to do with Tony and the DiMeras after what he tried to do to Sami."

Bart looked apologetic. "I know Mr. Roberts, and I’m sorry, but the Boss insisted. Trust me when I say you have NO IDEA what kind of changes have been going on here since then." Bart started to scurry up the stairs. He hesitated for a moment and turned back to Lucas.

"Just a word of advice. Try not to look too shocked when you meet Tonya." Bart turned away. "Now if you will excuse me, I have to make some calls. All hell is going to break loose tonight at the Blue Note."

Lucas stared after Bart in bewilderment. That man had always been odd, but his behavior now was positively mystifying.

Shaking his head, he opened the door and entered the ballroom. He got three steps into the room when he froze in horror at the sight that greeted him on the couch.

"Mr. Roberts! Thank you for coming so quickly! Please sit down so we can talk." The woman who called herself Tonya busied herself preparing a tray of tea.

Lucas’ mouth opened, then shut again. Finally, all he could manage was a tortured, "Oh. My. God."

Sami paced the room as she waited for Lucas to return from the DiMera mansion. She was terrified when Lucas said he had gotten a call from them and was being requested to meet with some woman named Tonya who was now in control.

After her accident, Tony DiMera had begun lavishing attention on her, and she accepted it, mainly because she was lonely and she was enjoying the jealousy that had mysteriously emerged from Lucas. Tony had just wanted to control her and try to get back at the Brady’s however, and only thanks to a quick knee to the groin and Bart’s response to her screams did she get out of there without being attacked.

Finally, her husband stumbled in the door, immediately going the couch and collapsing. Fear struck her in the stomach at how pale he was, and she immediately ran to the sofa in alarm.

"Lucas! Are you okay? What the hell happened over there?" Sami demanded frantically.

Lucas stared at her. "Um. . .I can honestly say there are no words to describe what is going on at the DiMera mansion." Lucas looked at her again, stunned, then suddenly burst into hysterical laughter.

"Oh god Sami," he managed to get out between snickers. "Ahhh. Honey, why don’t you find something to wear. I think we need to head out to the Blue Note for dinner tonight."

Sami stared at her spouse as if he had lost his mind. "Are you kidding? You come in here looking like you were attacked, then start laughing, then instead of explaining, you tell me we’re going out for dinner? You can’t be freaking serious!"

"Sweetie trust me, every question you have will be answered tonight at the Blue Note. The DiMeras have undergone quite a. . .uh. . .transformation." Lucas was still attempting to stifle his chuckles. "Come on Sami, do you trust me? It will all turn out fine, I promise."

Sighing, Sami turned toward the bedroom. "Fine, I trust you, but this better be good."

"Good doesn’t begin to describe it," came his response as she disappeared into her closet.

An hour later they were seating, finishing their dessert and coffee as they sat back and watched the band perform. Several of the couples were dancing, and after a moment, Lucas silently held out his hand. Sami accepted and she allowed him to lead her to the dance floor.

"Okay, are you going to tell me what the hell is going on now?" Sami asked as they swayed to the beat of the music.

At that exact moment, a murmur began rising from the restaurant patrons, and Sami caught a glimpse of Bart Biederbeck escorting a dark haired woman in a red dress towards the dance floor. Bart’s face was about eight shades redder than the dress, but he needn’t have been embarrassed. No one in the establishment was looking at him.

Lucas smirked at her. "Sami, perhaps I should introduce you to the new arrivals. That over there is Tonya, the woman who wanted to see me this afternoon.

The woman turned around, and for the first time Sami got a full view of her face. Her mouth dropped open in shock.

"OH MY FREAKING GOD!!!"

Bart was praying for the floor to open up and swallow him whole. Why, oh why did he keep working for the DiMeras? This stupid job had sounded like a good idea at first, but between the Rolfster and his Mengele-style experiments, Stefano’s inability to die, and now this, he was thinking that retirement should come, and soon.

Just then his cell phone rang, and he glanced at the caller ID. Nearly sighing in relief at the familiar number, he turned to his companion.

"Excuse me Miss Tonya, but this is a necessary business call. I will be back in just a moment."

Tonya smiled back at him. "Of course, Bart. I will be fine by myself for a few moments."

Bart tried, but couldn’t quite succeed, to repress his shudder at the face in front of him. Deciding not to respond, he turned and fled to a quieter part of the restaurant.

"Boss Man!! Oh thank God you called me back! We have a major, major problem. Tonya has decided that she needed a night on the town, and right now we are at the Blue Note so that she can dance. What the hell am I supposed to do?" Bart was frantic. He couldn’t deal with this ****.

Stefano’s voice on the other end was calm. "Bart, you have been a wonderful employee for us over the years, and I am now entrusting you with your most important task ever." There was a pause, and then the Phoenix continued. "You must destroy Tonya. Eliminate her. Tonight. And make absolutely certain that there is no chance that she can ever resurface again. We cannot have that. . that. . .thing tainting us."

Bart blew out a breath. "Are you sure boss? I mean, this is your child that we are talking about here."

"I’m aware of that Bart," came the response, "but sometimes we must cut our losses."

"You got it Boss Man." Bart smiled in satisfaction. "Generally, I tend to be a little squeamish about permanent elimination, but after the last nine months, this is one execution that I am going to enjoy."

"Just get it done," Stefano replied before clicking off.

Bart walked back into the restaurant whistling.

Bo Brady stared in shock at the scene before him. Out there on the dance floor, Lucas had himself an interesting choice of a partner.

Red faced, Lucas was scowling as he shuffled around the floor while looking at anything other than his dancing companion. Four feet away, doubled over in hysterical laughter, Sami Roberts watched her husband dance as his partner sang along with the band in a high pitched, squeaking voice.

Bo saw movement out of the corner of his eye and immediately walked over to Bart, one of Stefano’s minions. With the corners of his mouth lifting in amusement, Bo asked the question on the minds of everyone in the restaurant.

"Um, Bart? What the hell is that?"

"That, ladies and gentlemen," Bart announced with a sweep of his hand, "is Tonya, the new leader of the DiMera organization. You see, Count Antony’s last chance, or so he thought, at getting back at the Brady’s was to marry Sami and force her to bear his children. When that didn’t work, he decided his reign was over and it was time for new leadership. Tonya has been in charge ever since."

Bo looked back out at the dance floor and couldn’t hold back any longer. Laughter exploded from deep in his gut, and he had to grab the stair rail to keep himself upright.

There on the dance floor, in full makeup, with a long dark wig and a sparkling red dress, was Tony DiMera. Apparently whatever "transformation" he had gone through was entirely mental, for chest hair resembling a brillo pad escaped from the top of the dress, and likewise, hairy arms, legs, and armpits were exposed for the world to see as ‘s’he twirled over the floor. His feet were grotesquely shoved into a pair of delicate sandals that laced up his legs ballet-style. His eyes were closed, a look of bliss on his face as he floated across the floor, a reluctant Lucas in tow.

"Bart," he managed to croak out. "I admire your job perseverance and loyalty."

"Yeah," Bart responded. "Trust me, tonight is the end of this @#$%!. I’ve had it with ‘Tonya,’ and so has the rest of the organization. Methinks it’s time for a DiMera to sample his own kidnapping and torture techniques."

Bo grinned at the other man. "Rest assured, you will get no interference from the Salem PD."

Bart nodded grimly. "I appreciate that, Detective." He started towards the dance floor. "I think it’s time to rescue poor Lucas."

With a snicker, Bo took one last look before returning to his table. Of all of the sights he had seen in his life, this one would stay with him forever. The image of the formidable DiMeras had been destroyed forever.

Lucas watched in massive relief as Bart escorted Tony out of the Blue Note. Sami had managed to control herself enough to stand up straight, and she walked over to him and grabbed his hand.

He turned to his wife, enjoying the light that was dancing in her eyes. "Honey, are you cheating on me? You were dancing awfully close," she demanded, feigning jealousy.

"Trust me baby, your rack is waaay better than hers. She couldn’t fill out that dress like you did." Lucas winked at her, then shuddered at the memory of that gray, bristly chest hair emerging from the bodice of the gown that had once housed his wife’s own luscious breasts.

"Hmmph. Well, don’t let me catch you eying her ever again," Sami pouted.

"I can honestly say that you have nothing to worry about Baby." Lucas leaned down to plant a firm kiss on her mouth.

"Good. Now that we have that straight, let’s go home and I’ll demonstrate what I can do for you that ‘Tonya’ never could." She winked at him, and Lucas happily trailed his wife out of the Blue Note. He made a vow then and there that he would never again share a dance with anyone other than his wife. Just to be safe.

Bart smiled and lifted Tony onto the edge of a piece of metal machinery behind the DiMera mansion.

"Look Tonya. If you stand up on this, you can see above the tree line and all of the constellations are bright in the sky." Bart encouraged Tony to stand, then slowly nudged him backward towards the edge of the panel.

"Ah yes Bart, it’s just lovely," Tony squeaked. Bart shuddered at his voice and decided that enough was enough, this psycho bastard had a date with the grim reaper. Bart had always had a bit of a crush on the fiery Sami Roberts, and he had never forgiven his boss for trying to force himself on her.

This was going to be fun.

"Tonya, hon, if you’ll just take a quick step back, you can see a shooting star." Bart poised his hand over a button in preparation.

"Really?!" Tony squealed in delight.

He immediately took a step back, and at the same time Bart smacked his palm against the controls and screamed, ‘Hasta la vista, baby!" as the whirring blades caught the heel of Tony’s sandal.

Tony’s screams of pain echoed through the forest as his body slowly sank through the wood chipper and sprayed a fountain of flesh and blood onto the trees. Inspired, Bart couldn’t help but sing and began waltzing around the grinding machinery.

The lady in red is dancing with me

Finally, the night quieted and the blades automatically shut off. Bart sighed and glanced up at the stars. "Well, this isn’t Fargo, but that sure was fun!"

The End
