I'm starting this thread in order to try and give you one place to look for help with your problems. We'll add any information here as it becomes available. For starters:
1. <B>Why can't I log into my SS account?</B>
<I> In order to log in you must use your original SafeSearching email address (not member ID) that you used to register. Your password should still be the same. During the transition the email address was set back. If you absolutely do not know what the original email was contact me and I may be able to provide it. <B>DO NOT</B> reregister. </I>
2. <B>Why have my posting numbers changed? Will it be fixed? </B>
<I>Unfortunately, during the purging of message boards users lost a significant amount of their posting numbers. No, this won't be corrected. It affected everyone but it was something we mentioned could possibly happen in the transfer. We can pick those numbers back up. Just post double time! :)</I>
3. <B>How do I change the string or custom title under my name?</B>
<I>Go into USER CP in the grey/blue bar at the top of your forums page. On the left hand side you will see an orange bar with options in it. You may want to take a look through these! The one you want in this instance is, Edit Profile. The first option is to change your Custom User Title. </I>
4. <B> I am logged in but I can't post! It says I do not have posting privledge or my acct has not been activated. Why? </B>
<I>Believe me! We know! It's happening to members all over the site. Admins are hard at work to fix this but they have to go through each individual person/site to correct the issue. There is no estimated fix time but again we urge you not to re-register. Just keep trying and try to be patient. Good things come to those who wait!</I>
5. <B>My time is off by two hours even though the correct zone is selected. </B>
<I> Again, this is just a minor glitch that is being corrected. There is nothing wrong on your end.</I>
6. I'm an AOL user and I can't log into SafeSearching!
<I>AOL has to run an Internet program in the background to use the Internet. Since AOL is proprietary there has to be a partnership between some sites for them to run exclusively in AOL. Just call up Internet Explorer from the AOL tool bar and run our URL.</I>
7. What are reputation points? How can we keep them from being abused?
Reputation points are used to rate posters. To the best of our knowledge, this feature has
been disabled; however, if it hasn't been it will be soon!
Do you have a problem or issue that isn't addressed here? Feel free to PM Mander or email me at manderbug1@gmail.com I assure you that your problems aren't being ignored and we are addressing them. It's simply taking time. Many people are putting in long hours to get SafeSearching running smoothly.
