As MITM's 7th season premiere is just a little over 8 weeks away, I thought we'd start a discussion as to what we would like to see the character of Reese get up to in season 7. What direction does everyone think the character of Reese should go as he begins his 2nd  senior year of high school? Any jobs you'd like to see Reese take on or any mischief you can see and/or would like to see him get into this season? :D

For me, I'd love to see an episode where Reese is buying or test driving a car. Maybe he takes the salesman for a ride and hilarity ensues. We've had similar with "Reese Drives," (one of my all time favorite episodes) and seeing Reese behind the wheel again would be funny! I also would like to see Reese at work this season. Maybe at a restaurant and we could get to see some recurring characters that work there. Or of course, he could work at the Lucky Aide with Lois and Malcolm but I'd like to see him on his own at work. But most importantly for me, I'd like to see Reese finally realize he's growing up (as we saw in later episodes last season) as is his brothers and as they get ready to leave for work/college and beyond or advancement in school, know that there is no where else he'd have rather been than with his family all these years. :) As for mischief, I think he and Jamie make a funny pair and he could really do some funny stuff using Jamie as an innocent kid with Reese behind the scenes, either with his family or outside of the family. I have really seen a lot of Reese in Jamie and I would like to see Reese take him under his wing and show him the ropes so the mischief can continue on for a whole new generation. :D

As a high school student -
Boy oh boy! I'd like to see him in a young drivers course or equivalent. He would be sitting at his desk and Frankie would be sitting right beside him. The two would be constantly be bickering, or shouting at the instructor or some other hilarious act. Then would come road test day and reese would drive all over the road, flip the car on one occasion (my friend's experience), run over a stop sign, and have the car come back in a flaming wreck. LOL

I think that Reese will evolve in season 7. We started seeing some of that in season 6. He is growing up, and although I think there will be PLENTY of mischeif in this upcoming season, I think that he will do some great things for himself. I would like to see him get a job on his own, away from lucky aide too, and would love another episode where he drives too! "Reese Drives" is also one of my favorites!! :D
I'd like to see him like a sweet guy.. I mean, in the season 6 he has acted sweet sometimes! and that's so cute! lol. But I love to see him doing stupid stuffs too! lol that makes us laugh!! :D lol

I love that episode too! I love when he feel sorry and begins to explain why he acts like that lol... that's so sweet! ;)

I think that it would be really good to see Reese enrole in a martial arts school. It would be good too see him still have the tough image that he had in seasons 1 and 2 with the wrestling. I think it would make for some laughs as the instructor would end up giving up because he never catches on to teachings and he ends up having to fight 10 people in a challenge match. :D
I don't think that it would be possible for Reese to be bullied, but maybe the story could go over two episodes, he is getting bullied and decides to enrole in the martial arts classes. At the same time as seeing a different side of his character he could go back after some training and get them all back.

maye instedad of getting bullied he feels that a few other people are taking his title of school bully so he wants to prove that hes better than them, that could be why he enroles. sorry for kind of taking over ur idea i just thought id make a suggestion :p

That reminds me of a growing pains episode (does anyone know this show?) One of the sons (ben) gets bullied and takes karate lessons to defend himself. At the end he becomes very good at it and the bully tries to steal something from him (as he did in the beginning), but Ben still doesnīt fight back. He just isnīt scared anymore, because he knows he COULD defend himself. Doesnīt sound much like Reese, though, but I like your idea. It would be an interesting episode. Whenever Reese gets beaten up by someone he feels kind of humiliated (e.g by the girl in "bully", Cynthia in "Krelboyne girl" or Malcolm in "If boys were girls") and changes in a way. That could be a funny episode.
I also would like to see him as the nice guy (like he was in the 6th season) who still comes up with silly ideas. I hope the show focuses more on him instead of Hal and Dewey. Maybe this is a silly idea, but he could get a role in a TV show (by coincidence. He did something and someone saw him and thought he had a great talent) So he gets casted and does pretty well (he does some silly things which arenīt in the script, but writers think itīs funny and integrate it into the show). Of course he thinks itīs great that people on the street recognize him and want autographs, but then he realizes that he also doesnīt have any privacy anymore and wishes that he had turned down the role or something.
Of course he also throws some star tantrums and annoys his brothers. :D

i think the star tantrums would be very funny because dewey and malcolm would complain to lois and she would be like, leave ur brother alone he has a very hectic schedule, hehe :p

Bumping this thread up to see if any of our predictions and hopes for Reese in season 7 have come true. ;)

Hope it's okay that I've bumped this thread, with respect to Rye's bump.
I just thought It would be a cool idea to do a before/after idea comparison between everyone's premonitions and the actual outcome of season seven. I'll go first to get started :
Before the seventh season started I had sort of pictured Justin in an advanced lifestyle role, such as driving a car or equivalent. Alot of people, when they get past 16 etc.. have ambitions to start driving. I know I did!
I really think there is a strong contrast between my predictions and the actual course of the show, because with an advancement in every person's life comes new commitments and opportunities, hence responsibility. While Justin didn't get his driver's license in season seven, there were still strong signs of a grown up world ahead, as he had just graduated from highschool in the finale. :)
Anyone else want to give 'er a go? :D

Thanks, Shaun, for bumping up this thread. :)
While my predictions for Reese in season 7 didn't come to pass, I do like the direction the writers took the character throughout the season and where he ultimately ended up.
I've read a lot where some folks felt Reese should have ended up with a career as a chef, which is a passtime he really seems to enjoy. It's a good point and one I thought of too a couple of times this season but in the finale, we see him get a job as a janitor at his high school, a job he seems very excited to take on. I guess I would say, maybe Reese isn't ready to be a chef full time yet. Maybe he needs to work a few other jobs first.
A few times in season 6, Reese mentioned that he realized he was growing up and that soon the fun times of being a kid would be over. I think in season 7, with another year of high school for him to undertake, Reese tried to enjoy himself and have some fun. He'd already come to the realization that after high school things will change and he'd accepted that in season 6 so season 7 was all about enjoying himself and having fun for one more year, which I think he did.
The Halloween episode comes to mind. When he took Dewey and Jamie trick-or-treating and the older guy came after them throughout the episode. He and Dewey got to spend some quality time together. Granted, it was under rather odd circumstances but still. ;) He had loads of fun in the 7th season premiere, "Burning Man" at the festival and he and Lois, by the end of the episode, were already looking forward to next year. :D
But it wasn't all fun and games for Reese in season 7. There were lots of life lessons learned this season for Reese. In "Malcolm Defends Reese" and "Lois Strikes Back," Reese was the brunt of some jokes and downright mean behavior, first at the hands of his teacher, Mr. Herkabe and then by some immature girls who played a hurtful prank on Reese. I think in these two episodes Reese began to see the other side of the coin, the side where he isn't the bully but others are and how it affects people. He was hurt and he showed it in different ways in each episode, first by trying to act tough and then by becoming depressed and sad. But both times, the love of his family shined through with Malcolm stepping in and defending Reese against Mr. Herkabe and then Lois taking revenge on the prankster girls. The fact that family comes first, no matter what was very much present in season 7 and I think Reese realized this firsthand.
Also, Reese shows his feelings a bit in Reese vs. Stevie. He didn't know how to show his feelings that he was sad that Malcolm would soon be going off to college and he was spending more time with Stevie than with his brother so instead of talking about it with Malcolm he tried to bully Stevie. Of course it backfired but not before he and Malcolm had a nice, but brief talk where Reese admitted he was jealous that Stevie got to hang out with Malcolm all the time. It was Reese showing a bit more mature but nto totally adult side. Again, a sign of him growing up.
Also, another milestone in season 7 was Reese arranges marriage to Raduca at the hands of Grandma Ida! I think it was important for Reese, in his mind, to give this a go, even though his family and the audience didn't think it would work out. As a result, we saw Reese take care of his wife, do the cooking, cleaning, become very responsible. These were some more valuable life lessons he learned on the way to becoming an adult. Not under exactly ideal situations but at least he was learning.
All of this of course led to the series finale when Reese finally moved out of the house. Moving in with Craig was surprising but I think a good move. As we saw in Reese's Apartment a couple seasons ago, he wasn't quite ready to be on his own, with the credit card issue and all, lol.:D But living with Craig is like a stepping stone to being on his own. And getting that janitors job made Reese happy. And in life, all we can truly wish for and hope for is to be happy and healthy. To enjoy and not take ourselves to seriously because life is just too short for that. I think if nothing else, Reese learned this in season 7 and set his life in that direction, while knowing that family is and always should be #1. They'll be there when no one else is, like Lois was there for him in "Lois Strikes Back" and "College Recruiters" when she found out his wife was having an affair and when Malcolm was there for him in "Malcolm Defends Reese." Family is forever, and I think we saw Reese realize this very important fact in season 7.

Wow, very clever remarks and analysis, Rye!
I haven't seen anything of the 7th season except the three first episodes, but sure there are great things waiting for me!
I can't wait to see Malcolm and Lois defending Reese in their own way!! He clearly deserves it! I love it when you see the family's strong bounds despite all of their argue and fighting!
Reese is really interresting, because he can be strong or have moments of weakness too, he is a bully, a fighter, but he also has a big heart.
I think he needs both to protect and be protected. He is strong, but needs to be loved in return or he looses his strength.
Judging by what you said, it seems that season 7 is a big step in Reese's life where he evolves much (well... as much as Reese can possibly evolve:) ).
Also, Rye reminded me of that great moment of season 6 when Reese says he doesn't have much time left before having to get a little more mature. To me, it's one of the most emotional event related to Reese. Coming from him, it really touches your heart when you hear this.:o
Pretty soon, I'll get to see the whole evolution of Reese and the other characters through the seven years, as MITM comes back in France at the end of this month, from the very beginning to the very end, with apparently three episodes a day! There is MUCH to watch! I'm excited, I can't wait!!:D
