THE HUMANE SOCIETY (http://www.hsus.org/)
THE RED CROSS (http://www.redcross.org)
Check with your local Red Cross! Most chapters will gather volunteers when a disaster strikes. However, they discourage volunteers from going off on their own. Go with an organized group.
But I'm just a kid . . .
Even if you don’t think you’re old enough to help, you can!
1. Contact the Red Cross to find out what kind of food or money drives they may be having.
2. Organize a food/supply/money drive at your local schools. (Check with teachers first!!)
3. Volunteer with organizations such as UNICEF
4. Food pantries need help not only getting donations but also boxing them up and shipping them.
5. Donate blood!
6. Take a tip from our own lil mod, Ashlyn! She donated stuffed animals for the children of Hurricane Katrina to cuddle with!
7. Alot of smaller kids are having lemonade stands and donating the money to organizations.
. . . and if all else fails, never doubt the power of friendship, love and prayer.
