Here's a question to throw out there... think back to when you first were made aware of Justin Berfield. For many of us, myself included, that was likely through MITM. Apart from what are the obvious answers that I think we all can agree upon- "Justin's cute..." etc, what was it that made you become such a fan of Justin?
For me, I remember watching MITM and seeing Reese and his antics, and I got to thinking, "My god, this kid (Justin was pretty young when MITM first came out) is good- to be able to portray a character like that convincingly?" I thought about how easy it would be to slip up laughing at your own antics as you are supposed to be performing them, or how easy it would be to play a character like that and have the audience think "I can tell he's acting..." Justin does such a good job with that... Maintaining that character can't be easy...
Recently, I got to wanting to learn more about Justin, as the question came up "I wonder how old he is now..." when I was watching MITM with someone. Mind you, prior to my joining this, I never really devoted any time like this to being a fan of a celeb... When I started reading about Justin, and what a wonderful guy he is, that did it for me :)

I remember thinking how great an actor he is and I'd be constantly talking about MITM with my friends and who our favourite characters are, then from there I wanted to know more about the real person behind Reese so I went onto many various sites and found more out about him- the more I found out, the more I grew impressed. He is so much more than I could have imagined, such a diamond personality :)

The first episode of MITM that I saw was "Waterpark" back when it originally aired. I remember seeing Justin portray the character of Reese and it was obvious he was being played as a bully (and played very convincingly, I might add) but what really struck me was that not too far beneath Reese's tough exterior was a kid who truly cared about his family. To be able to portray Reese in this way is a credit to Justin's acting. I was impressed from day 1.
It was a few years later that I found my way to Justin's official site and began to learn more about his charity work, other projects of his and his love of animals (something that is very important to me also) and his appreciation of his fans. I knew this was a young actor who was going to go very far in his career. I'm proud each day to be a fan of his. :)

I watched Malcolm in the Middle since the series premeired. I also watched Unhappily Ever After on the WB in the 90s, but was not really a justin fan back then (although i still thaught he was cool, I just did not care to realize the actor's name). Then after visiting his website i realized he was the kid from Unhappily, lol.
I am the same age as Justin, although i am a few months older, since I turn 20 this Sunday. Malcolm In the Middle is my favorite TV series since at the time it was the only show on TV that had kids that were the same age as me, and was not some stupid drama. people might think my hair is spiked becuase Justin's is but that is not true at all, I had my hair that way since 7th grade, 2 years before the show was ever on. Ok before I keep rambblin on completely off topic i will stop now, lol

Well said- I am pleased to be a fan of his. Ever had someone ask you "Who is your favorite actor?" to which you reply "Justin Berfield" and they are often like "really?" I've made quite a few people aware of a side of him that is quite well tucked away behind the image of Reese... a true testament to his talent that he can play someone so well that is so far off his own personality.

I agree Justin does play a character that is nothing like the real him. Well of course that's what actors do. I saw him in MITM and I thought Reese was hilarious. The crazy things that he does, the way he acts around girls is funny. I didn't know his real name but I found out and decided to look at some websites about him. Something just made me curious to find out a little about him. I honestly didn't expect him to be an animal lover. I was amazed about his charity work. And I know a lot of people say that. He's a really sweet person even though I've never ever met him and may never ever meet him. I know there are a lot of girls like him just beacause they think he's really really cute/hot. But I am one girl that honestly likes him for his talent and his personality.

Same here :) what he looks like on the outside is nothing compared to the decent, sweetness and good on the inside.

too much work for me to spike hair :P lol I got tired of the whole process a week after starting the new "style" :S

Hmmm, seems like my very first post is gone. I guess they only keep them for so long. Then again, SafeSearching revamped the site so they probably got rid of alot of old posts. So in a nutshell......I first saw Justin on "The Good Life". A funny show with Drew Carey as a co-star. It's too bad it didn't last long though. I found this website after I first saw MITM. I had never seen or heard of most of the actors (except Frankie from "My Dog Skip") so I just looked them up on the net and came across Justin's site and he just seemed like a great person. I was shocked that he actaully talked to his fans in the forums, and at that time had his email address on his website.
He's a great actor, but more importantly, a great guy who lots of people benefit from through his work.
I found this website after I first saw MITM. I had never seen or heard of most of the actors (except Frankie from "My Dog Skip") ...
aaawww! i love that movie! it's so sweet but... it's sad too :(

Threads over 90 days old are purged periodically and we did lose a few posts during the transfer to our new message board technology so that could have been what happened. But I remember your very first post and it was nearly the same as this one. A great post, Joe! :)

Thanx :) I was relaying the story of how I got to be a Justin fan to someone, and I figured "Hmmm, I wonder what drew everyone else to him?"
I think it's clear that Justin has touched us all in a way that I don't think anyone else could. We identify with him as a character- I think the majority of us can say we've had our Reese days. We can certainly respect his talent- at his age, with the resume he has, his own company off and running... He is a genuine, caring person- demonstrated to us by his loyalty to us as fans, and his willingness to give back to those in need. (And ok, yes- he's a very attractive guy... :)) I can't think of a reason not to like him :D
Suffice it to say- Justin Berfield- beautiful inside and out.

It is clear we are a very diverse group of people spanning not only several countries, but several continents as well. It is great that the advances of modern technology have allowed us to come together to celebrate our admiration for Justin (and for him to be able to be the recipient of it) mo matter where we are, and no matter where he is.

I thought I was the only fan in Australia.None of my friends watch MITM and don't really know who Justin is! I'm glad I've found people that are fans and people who I can talk to. I don't feel alone lol.

I started watching malcolm during the second series and became aware of justin but never thought any more of it. But then i was watching "E news" and they were talking about different celeb kids doing charity work and he was on it and i thought it was cool because it completly different to what his character would do. So i then went on the net and went on google and stuff just trying to find out more and then saw some new pics of him and thought "wow he hot" lol. And ive been a fan sinse lol.

as for when was the first time i saw justin on tv... it was on that movie "the kid with x-ray eyes"... i don't know how to explain it, i just felt some kinda older brother affection towards him then :) but i didn't become a fan until the summer of 2002, i was on a trip with my family, and some girl i met told me i looked like justin berfield, so i went like "justin who?" (lol sorry justin, i knew almost nothing about you back then :p) so she told me he was reese at mitm, so i said "oh, no way! that jerk!?" (got totally fooled by justin's great acting skills) so she told me justin was not like reese at all, she told me about his charity work and all that stuff, so i was really surprised, and when i went back home, the first thing i did was typing "justin berfield" on google, finding he was a great and down to earth guy in fact, and we had a lot in common... that's pretty much the whole story (lol i've told it like 10 times here :D lol but it doesn't matters, i'll repeat it another 10 times if someone asks lol ;) ) have fun!

i think its because hes still normal and he hasnt let fame affect him, i mean, he isnt big headed or full of himself which i hate about people, hes just remained true to himself lol :p

Completely agreed... MITM and Justin's adorable nature certainly stand out... Not to mention his ability to portray a character such as Reese.... when I first started watching MITM, I started wondering "What is this actor really like?" and I was quite impressed by his ability to portray Reese seriously, considering the real Justin isn't like Reese... Obviously, everyone brings a bit of themselves and their own personal experience to a character when they act, but I believe that the actors who can jump outside of themselves and develop a character who is independent... that takes talent... Obviously, as the writers matured and as time went on, Reese's character became more solid, but considering how young Justin was when he started MITM, it's a true testament to his ability.
It has been said time and again, he's such a wonderful person, down to earth, and genuinely caring... It makes me want to meet him and be able to hang out as friends SO bad...
And yeah, he is really cute :)

Yeah i agree with all of you! He is unique...the fact he is so kind when sometime celebrities can get their feet off the ground.
I just realised ive never actually posted my answer to the actual thread topic..
I havent been a fan of Justin's long and ive only seen him on MITM so thats how i came around seeing him...It was only in like season 6 where i started to like MITM more and looked up the cast on the internet and Reese has always been my favourite character so as my interest in MITM came stronger i also became more a fan of Reese and then Justin:D

I think so too, because I mean, even though Reese is a little slow, he still comes up with smart ideas and sayings that make up his irresistable charm. As for Justin, he is deffinately charming with his self-less attitude (his charity work, love for animals etc.) :)

What a thread! I didn't notice this after 'cause I like so much the games in the off-topics :p and I was thinking about what to write in Ask Justin! Sub-forum... I think I have not original things I can write about the amazing personality of Justin and his merits. You all writed already the very important things! Actually I've seen only a limited number of episodes of MITM, 'cause I discovered it so late. I'm searching past episodes in the net, but I'll like more if I can buy the DVDs with all the episodes of all the seasons! Then I'll do a MITM marathon! :D Too bad actually there is only the DVD of the first season and it's not for Europe :mad:
The episodes of MITM that make me become a fan of Reese and Justin are Reese Comes Home, Hal Sleepwalks, Billboard, Ida's Dance (a great performance of Lois too here) and over all Motivational Speaker! I'll be amazed if Justin didn't enjoy acting with dogs :D I read 6th season is the best in the opinion of a lot of yours, obviously it's the best for me! I searched infos about Justin because both his acting as Reese and his beatiful appearance. When I discovered is's so kind, unselfish ecc. I become a fan. Before Justin, I never was a fan of anyone, I mocked my sis 'cause she's a fan of a lot of actors and singers... :o I think I have to excuse me.
