Setting the stage....

Imagine, if you would, that we are all reporters. Your boss has come to you saying "I've been hearing a lot about this Justin Berfield, and I want you to track him down and interview him. Get to it."

1. What TV show/magazine/newspaper do you want to see your interview published on/in?
2. Keeing within the SafeSearching guidelines what are the first 5 questions you'd want to ask Justin? (And remember, think of yourself as a reporter... not just as a Justin fan...)
3. What might you want to title/subtitle your article?
4. Anything else you'd want to have happen for the interview? (Any special place you want to have it take place? Do you want a photo shoot?)

I was thinking myself of something like this the other day and thought it might be interesting to see what others might have to say about the topic... I will post my answer to this soon- I have questions 1 and 4 answered, I have to think of 2 and 3 LOL

Nice topic;) I would love to interview Justin, its hard to think on the lines of interview questions and not coming from a fan!lol.
I would do a photo shoot so the pictures could be featured in the magazine and him on the front cover as the main topic. It would be...erm this is hard! Maybe just like in a normal room but make it a white room to bring out Justin, lol. I think ive seen one of him in a white room before, it was effective as well.

so....
1.Justin tell us about your future projects with J2.
2.Do you have anymore acting jobs in plan, or is producting taking over your acting job?
3.Are you getting used to living on your own? Do you enjoy it?
4.Since our last interview with you (im being imaginitive here!) you were only 14 (something along the lines of season 2 MITM) so tell us how you have changed since then.
5.Tell us a bit about whats in-store from Reese in the new season of MITM.

I think I'd want to see my interview in a magazine like Details or GQ... I think he's got an incredible sense of personal style which would lend itself to a magazine like that, and I think to be featured in a magazine which isn't so driven on media gossip would afford me the opportunity to ask questions I wouldn't get to otherwise.

My questions for him...

1. Anyone watching MITM has really watched Reese grow up... 7 seasons is a long time. What has this experience been like for you?
2. What is in store for J2?
3. As an actor, you have achieved a lot already... hitting the 100 episode mark on MITM marked the second time you have done that in a sitcom. You've done commercials, sitcoms, your own work- all before the age of 21- quite an accomplishment. What kinds of things still interest you as an actor and what do you want to try new in the future?
4. What got you involved in your charity work?
5. What do you want to do for yourself outside of your work this year?

I'd definitely want a photo shoot- I know a perfect location here in Maine along the coast which I think would be GREAT to feature him... I'd also want to talk with him in the interview about his sense of style- his favorite designers, etc.

As for a title... hmm. Not sure where I'd go on that one... I think I'd have to see where the interview went, although I'd love to find some way to creatively play off "Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive" or something to do with his role as Reese....

Maybe next to his picture (which of course would be on the cover) I'd title it: "Justin Berfield: Driven to Success"

Excellent topic question Dan!

Details and GQ are good magazines but lately I've really been liking the interviews from Premiere so I would have to go with that one.

It is a bit tricky to take youself out of the mindset of being a fan of his and take on the interviewer role but I think my questions would be:

1. "Filthy Rich:Cattle Drive" was the first project through your J2 production company. Can you tell us about your experience with shepharding the project from concept to network pick-up to casting to filming to airing and beyond. Was it what you thought it would be?

2. I'm sure you're asked the question time and again but you have portrayed the character of Reese for so long and so well; Just how different is Reese from Justin? Is there any of Reese in you?

3. It's been a couple of years since your last film role. Are you looking to do another film in the near future and if so, what genre would you be interested in taking on? Are you interested in playing in any kind of a darker role? A thriller perhaps?

4. As some who has remained constantly at work with Malcolm in the Middle, your film projects, starting your production company and creating and working on projects through it, in addition to being involved in many charity organizations and helping out those in need and checking in with your fans through your official website and messageboard, all the while still being a young man and spending time with your family and friends. That's a monumentous undertaking for anyone and yet you are able to accomplish it with such grace and always with a smile. What would you say is the right balance for all of these for a celebrity to stay grounded and still enjoy all life has to offer?

5. Where do you see yourself in 20 years? Do you feel producing is the path your career is going to take you or do you think you'll still have an active interest in acting that far down the road? Do you want to give a shot at directing, editing or the like?

I would definately think a photo shoot would be good; Most likely on or near the ocean.

As for a title, I'd say "Justin Berfield: One to watch - A hit TV show, his own production company...He's just getting started! " :)

Gee that's a hard question. I wouldn't know what to ask because a lot of people ask him the same questions.

Excellent topic question Dan!

Details and GQ are good magazines but lately I've really been liking the interviews from Premiere so I would have to go with that one.

I was thinking that in Details or GQ that it would be definitely refreshing though to see someone as up and coming as Justin in that... I think he's definitely got his moments where he's very GQ in his dress style... I'll have to check out Premiere though to see what you mean...

I would definately think a photo shoot would be good; Most likely on or near the ocean.

I was thinking right here in Portland, near Portland Head Light or somewhere up in the Camden/Rockport area would be really nice... Oooh... or maybe take him out on one of the many tall masted schooners that are up there...

He's so photogenic that no doubt he would look good anywhere doing and wearing anything....

Gee that's a hard question. I wouldn't know what to ask because a lot of people ask him the same questions.

That's kind of why I thought of the topic... as I was reading this month's Details, I got to thinking about their somewhat unconventional (and very conversational) style of interviewing top celebs... They always seem to catch the celebs candidly...

I would love to be able to pull off one of those interviews where when I turned around to print it, it became a story and an actual article written by me with observations of and quotations from Justin, rather than just listing my questions and his replies.

Wow this has really got me thinking..Great topic Dan! :)

1.I'd probably write this article for GQ too because its a far more sophisticated magazine and not one of them typical, cheesy magazines like women's gossip mags- as they tend to humiliate celebs and only focus on what they look like, what they wear etc.
And the q's I'd ask would be:
- Is acting something you always imagined you would be doing at such a young age?
- Who or what inspired you to choose this as a career? What do you like to do when you are not working?
- What has it been like growing up on the set of Malcolm In The Middle?
- What inspired you to help out in charity work?
- What other projects do you have lined up for the future?
I would include photos of Justin with his dog Bean, photos of him on the MITM set and some of him in London.
Im not sure about what title I would give the article yet.

Hi everyone!

I've been going through some of the older threads and have come across some wonderful topics from the past that I thought I would bump back up to re-read and for some of our newer members who may want to reply to them. In the coming days and weeks, I'll be bumping some back up. This one was a cool question from Dan (haven't seen him around in awhile, hope he comes back to post again soon). :)

Thanks for bumping this up Rye. I could have sworn that I replied to this thread, I think that I was going to reply, but I forgot over time. :o

1. I would either like the interview to be placed in "What's on TV?" or the Sky magazine, I've read some excellent interviews in those magazines before. But, to be fair I think it would be better to try and find a magazine that sells worldwide so that everyone from around the world can read the interview.

2. I've heard on a recent interview that you like the TV show "24" if you were given an oppurtunity to star in this series or another television show would you take on a role? If so what kind of character would you like to play?

Malcolm in the middle has a big fan base worldwide, do you ever watch the show when it airs on TV, if so what is your favourite episode/season and why?

On the set of Malcolm in the middle have you ever mistakenly forgot when you're not filming and called Frankie, Eric, Jane, Bryan or any other cast member by the names of the roles they play in the show?

Would you like Malcolm, Dewey, Francis and Jamie as real brothers?

It's very sad that the show is ending, but after 7 seasons which is fantastic for a show, if there was ever a special reunion show lets say, 10 years down the line or maybe longer, would you return to the set once more to play the role of Reese to let us know how he's getting on?

3. I can't think of a good title right now guys, i'll try and think one up for later.

4. I think that it would be great to take the interview on the set of malcolm in the middle. It would be great to have the interview on the day that the cast films the last episode.

1.im not sure wot magazine i would have it in cos i wouldnt wanna put it in a tabloid mag but that is all i read lol.

2.questions
> alot of actors who were in the limelight at a young age often feel they have missed apart of there childhood. Do you ever feel that way and if so what particular things do you feel you missed out on?
>is there anything in your life you ever think "i wish i could turn back time and change that" and if so what?
>is there any other carear you would like to experience that is way out of acting and producing? for example im a beauty therapist and am now training in complimentary therapies but have allways like the idea of doing photography.
>is there any older actor (by that i mean someone who has had a long carear in acting) and think i hope my carear ends up as good as theres.
>and just to end it with a cheesy question which actress would you most like to share on screen kiss with.

3.i not quite sure what kind of photoshoot i would like to do. I would like something we havent really see justin do before. Maybe something very model like. preferably black and white and quite dark and misterious picture. Something where you look at his face and into his eyes and see there is alot of depth and soul beyond skin deep.

4.not quite sure wot title i would like

Oh, that would be the best! In a way, it would be sad as it would be the last episode the cast and crew are working on but it would be so memorable and even historic, in a sense, for having the interview taking place at such an emotional time for not only the audience, but also the people who have worked on the show, day in and day out for the past 7 years. :)

thanx jeeperdude

i hope they will stay in contact because of the success of the show they must be a pretty good team.
Even if they dont stay in contact at least there were no major fall outs like there are on some shows.

I think they will stay in contact, I posted a question for Bryan Cranston on his official site asking about how he feels towards the ending of MITM and his relationship with the cast- his reply was that he will always see the boys as his own and think of the Wilkerson family as a second (even if fictional) family. I have also seen some bloopers from various episodes and it is clear to me how close they all bonded, and I think it is a bond that will remain even when MITM finally ends :)

Totally agree! Working so close together for 7 years creates a lasting bond. While they may all be working on other projects that may take them in different directions, I would think that the bond created between them would last forever. It's almost like your family. As everyone grows up, they sometimes drift apart and you don't see or talk to them for weeks or months at a time. But you can pick up the phone or send an E-mail to them one day and it's like you just spoke with them yesterday. I think that's how it will be for the cast and crew of MITM. :)

Aww that's really sweet, I remember seeing a few bloopers and how they were around each other :) It was great :D Like a real family :o
