People's Choice Awards: Noms Announced!
November 10, 2005
Let the choosing begin! Will the "Desperate Housewives" reign again? Will ANGELINA JOLIE and BRAD PITT woo the voters to a win? Audiences will let their opinions be known once again as the nominations for the 32nd Annual People's Choice Awards are announced.
"Ghost Whisperer" actress JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT and DOMINIC MONAGHAN of "Lost" joined late night personality CRAIG FERGUSON in announcing the nominees from the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Thursday morning.
Angelina and Brad's hot on-screen pairing in 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' is up for the category of Favorite On-Screen Match-Up, but they face tough competition from 'The Longest Yard''s ADAM SANDLER and CHRIS ROCK and 'Wedding Crashers' VINCE VAUGHN and OWEN WILSON.
Angelina and Brad are both up for the categories of Favorite Female Action Star and Favorite Male Action star, respectively. But JENNIFER GARNER and CATHERINE ZETA-JONES could give Angie a run for her money while MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY and THE ROCK are fighting for the male action star prize as well.
Favorite Female Movie Star could end up going to newlywed SANDRA BULLOCK, NICOLE KIDMAN or Jolie and fans can vote for either NICOLAS CAGE, JOHNNY DEPP or SAMUEL L. JACKSON for Favorite Male Movie Star.
The shows vying for Favorite TV Drama are last year's winner "Desperate Housewives," "Law & Order: SVU" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" while "Everybody Loves Raymond," "That '70s Show" and "The Simpsons" are up for Favorite TV Comedy.
"Two and a Half Men"'s CHARLIE SHEEN, KIEFER SUTHERLAND of "24" and funnyman RAY ROMANO are up for Favorite Male TV Star and "Alias" butt-kicker Jennifer Garner, "Housewives" star TERI HATCHER and JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT of the hit show "Ghost Whisperer are all hoping to win Favorite Female TV Star.
And in the music world, FAITH HILL, GWEN STEFANI and KELLY CLARKSON are up for Favorite Female Performer and Hill's husband TIM McGRAW, TOBY KEITH and crooner USHER are nominees for Favorite Male Performer.
"The Late Late Show" host and "The Drew Carey Show" alum Ferguson also has the honor of hosting the ceremony, airing on CBS on Tuesday, January 10 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
The first awards show of 2006 honors the public's favorite performers in television, movies and music. And since it is the People's Choice Awards, fans can begin the voting process from the time the nominees are announced all the way up to the fun-filled broadcast.
