Ghost Whisperer is often the most watched program on Friday Nights, a very tough night as most folks aren't home or watching TV. When I first heard that this is the time slot CBS was giving this show, my hopes weren't too high but I've been pleasantly surprised at how well it has done week after week. :)
I was actually afraid that it was too similiar to another show I like ... Medium.
Both woman could see the dead.
Interestingly though, Medium has started to take the character, Alison, in the direction of using her dreams to "forecast" what has happened. Not to say she still doesn't have conversations occasionally but lately it's all happened through dreams...similar to the Profiler Show that was on a few years ago... She also had "visions" to allow the audience a way of telling what really happened in the story.
It's nice that Jennefer is simply having conversations with the dead. Helping them pass over.
I prefer that kind of storytelling the best.
Wow, listen to me ... if that isn't one for the Pyschiatrists couch I don't know what is.
Later,
Vick

Same here. When CBS first announced the show and not too much was yet known about it, I also thought it would just be a version of Medium. But I was glad to read and eventually see that Ghost Whisperer wasn't about the solving of crimes and dealing with all of the circumstances that go with that. This show was more about the heart. The effects of losing someone we love and how Melinda helps those who were left behind, move on with their lives and provide closure. It's so different than other showes on the air today. A real standout show.
