This is from my sister Tracey:

Gemma is developing at a breakneck pace. Here's one thing Gemma did
yesterday. She, little smartypants, was looking at her Numbers book.
We'd been looking at different pages, learning words, and counting
things. The book was shut, and she was crawling over to it. She
pointed and grabbed it and announced "BOOK!" I said, "Yes, Book! Can
you find balloons in your book?" There is a page with a birthday party
pictured, and balloons are the thing pictured on the tab. She looked at
me, and pursed her lips, and blew, like blowing out candles! Then she
started bouncing rhythmically and humming, and I realized she was trying
to hum "Happy Birthday to You!"--she actually got part of the tune and
the rhythm right! So I sang it, and when I was done, she clapped and
raised her hands! We've had so many birthdays she's been to
recently--her own, David's, and Aunt Michie's, that she recognizes the
song now (and the whole scenario of balloons, cake, and presents, and
that everyone claps at the end)!

She also, in the same book, points at the dolphins and calles them
Fishies or Firshies. And she pointed at the cups in the birthday party
scene and said Gup-cup? And I told her yes, those are cups, and she
squealed and yelled "gup-Cup" and pointed to her own cup on the end
table! She now calls for Bella (or Elba, as it sometimes comes out),
and Alec (Alc, just like Bella said it), and ADA! ADA! as well as
Mom-mom. Gage is either Woof woof (her own creation; it's kind of like
a huffing sound) or Gay or Pup. The cats in the various pictures (and
the neighbor's cat who is often in our yard) are Gas, Kikis or Gikas.
She is just saying new words every single day, and it's kind of hard to
keep up! She will get upset if we don't understand her, too. Whereas
just at Christmas she kind of assumed we'd have no clue.

Anyhow, that's the report from the Front. The Behind is cute, too. ;-)

Smiles,
Tracey
