Anybody listening?

"WASHINGTON – Is the biggest threat Iran poses to the United States really its nuclear ambitions - or is it petropolitics?

Last month the Iranian government quietly reaffirmed plans to create by next year a euro-denominated exchange in oil, natural gas, and other petroleum products. If successful, such an exchange could start to lap at the walls of the two existing oil exchanges - London's International Petroleum Exchange (IPE) and the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) - both owned by American companies.

If the billions of dollars in oil sales ever got going in euros, experts say, that could dry up the demand for dollars that the heavily indebted US economy depends on, and it could mean big trouble for the US economy. It's enough to make the Great Satan-loathing visionaries behind the Iranian regime salivate. The chances of success, however, seem quite remote - at least in the short term."
......
"Yet even as remote as the Iranian threat may be, others note that past attempts to create new markets have not been greeted warmly. None other than Saddam Hussein decided to sell oil only in contracts dominated in euros - in the months before he was ousted by a US-led military invasion."

Oil is such a slippery substance!

By the way. Can anybody tell me just where in history has Iran or Iraq actually ever started any war against the US? Ever sent any conventional army into the US?

The way I see it, is that the western consensus is that Muslims are bad, and Christians are good. Seems that the thinking here is that Muslim countries are agressors by virtue of them being Muslim, rather than actually having done anything agressive. At the same time I see the west making all the agressive moves, but this is seen as okay because they are Christian. I mean, c'mon, Iraq never even put up a fight! Does it get more placate than that???

Could somebody please explain all this to me?

I'm thinking the point is being missed.....

It ain't about oil, directly, it's about what currency the oil is going to be sold in.
If it were to change from American dollars to Euros why would the world continue to want Dollars?
Proping up one fiat currency over another, who woulda thought....

There are now only 5 nations on the world left without a Rothschild controlled central bank: Iran; North Korea; Sudan; Cuba; and Libya.
Up untill 2003-2004 Iraq was also part of this list.

Oil contracts worldwide are usually traded in Dollar. This is important for oil prices and for the Dollar as an currency. While I think, Germany gets most of the oil and natural gas from Russia, the prices did not rise so fast because of the relative weakness of the dollar.

Many Iran trading partners are in Europe, I think, Germany is still the biggest import nation from Iranian view. This can change during the next year, with China is getting stronger every year.
This means, so far Iran pays Euro for buying a lot of goods and receives dollars for selling a lot of goods. Because Dollar seems to be the weaker currency at the moment, it should make sense for oil exporters to switch to Euro currency. An Iranian exchange would be a move to trade a part of the oil contracts in Euros. It will be competitive, if market participants see advantages.

This Rothschild controlled central bank thing is from old conspiracy theories. Rothschild is a Jewish bankers family and they own some enterprises in Europe, these are financial institutes and vineries. They employ around 2000 people. They make money with investment banking. They don't control central banks.

In the end, switching from Dollar to Euro would not make much sense, if both currencies are controlled by the same people, I guess.
