What: In the midst of Hollywood’s awards season, we invite you to join us in honoring winners of a different kind…those who have won their battle with breast cancer.

Join celebrity spokesperson Jennifer Love Hewitt and many others on Sunday, February 26 for the Tenth Annual Komen Los Angeles County Race for the Cure to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Los Angeles County Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation marks its tenth anniversary in 2006 and opens the tenth L.A. County Race for the Cure® on February 26 with an inspirational and uplifting “Sea of Pink” Celebration of Life opening ceremony just prior to the start of the Race in lot H, adjacent to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The visuals: Hundreds of breast cancer survivors escorted under a sea of pink canopies enter the stage area just south of the Rose Bowl in Pasadena; throngs lining the route to the stage, and celebrities and other VIPs on the main platform greet them. The program: music presented by K-EARTH 101 and spoken word tributes to the survivors…and silent heartfelt tributes to those who lost their battles.

Race Day activities include the “Sea of Pink” Celebration of Life Breast Cancer Survivors’ Ceremony (all breast cancer survivors are invited to meet at the Survivor Tent at 8:30 a.m.), coed 5K run and 5K walk (individuals and teams), a coed adult/kid 1-mile noncompetitive fun run, a one-hour Jazzercise® session, plus a health and fitness expo.

Who: Jennifer Love Hewitt, star of CBS-TV’s hit series “The Ghost Whisperer” serves as celebrity spokesperson. Ms. Love Hewitt honors her aunt who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing treatment.

Media spokespersons include Gary Bryan (K-EARTH 101), Laura Diaz (CBS2 News), and
Sylvia Lopez (KCAL9 News).

Gabrielle Dunne, survivor spokesperson, who credits LA County Komen for saving her life, having survived both breast and ovarian cancer through services directly funded by LA County Komen grantee programs.

Where: Pasadena, CA * Area H located immediately south of the Rose Bowl

Why: In support of breast cancer education, screening, diagnostic procedures, treatment, support services and research. Up to 75% of the net proceeds directly benefit the underinsured and uninsured of LA County through a program of grants to organizations throughout the county. A minimum of 25% balance funds research

Course: The LA County Race for the Cure® is USA Track & Field (USATF) Certified (CAD2023RS) and a sanctioned 5K course

Entry Fees: Fees are nonrefundable and include a bib and t-shirt

Race Prizes, Donation Drawings and Premiums

Everyone Wins!
The first 11,000 Coed 5-K run/walk participants who cross the finish line receive a Komen Race for the Cure pin.

Runners’ Prizes
Top three female and top three male finishers each receive a trophy. The top three Breast Cancer Survivor finishers, the first place Master Survivor finisher (age 40-54) and the first place Senior Survivor finisher (age 55 or over) each receive a trophy and a gift from Total Woman Gym & Atmosphere Day Spa. The first place survivor finisher will receive a $100 Coldwater Creek gift card. The top three male and female finishers in each age category will receive trophies. Prizes are awarded at 10:30 a.m. on the main stage.

Race Day Donation Drawings
For each $100 donated, participants receive a drawing ticket. Tickets must be deposited in the drawing box at registration by 10:15 a.m. Drawings are held after the Race at 11:00 a.m. on the main stage. Entrants must be present to win.
