hi im just asking if someone could tell me what could happen if a baby is born at 31 weeks
my cousin had her baby day before yesterday because of bad blood is the baby going to be ok
so far shes off a ventalator and breathing on her own is that a good sign?

yes that is a very good sign, also for your info and to ease your mind we carry our babies for 40 weeks so the baby was born 9 weeks early my middle daughter was born 6 weeks early and is a healthy 6 year old today now every day in thw womb counts but if she is breathing on her own that is great. let us know how she does.

Yeah well they say that the baby most likely has NO chance of living if born under like 24 weeks or something. but if you have him/her over 24 weeks they can in most cases find a way to save them. lol but i know how the worrie feels i have my first(well obviously i havent had my second yet = ) hehe ) i went into labor once at 32 weeks and they gave me something to stop it and then 2 weeks later i ended up giving birth to allison . but i was like flipping out cause she was my first and 6 weeks early i like thought she wouldnt be ok when she was born but she was 100% healthy! just a little too light she was born at 4pds 2oz and in arizona babies have to be 5 pounds before they can leave the hopsital. BUT ANYWAYS lol enough of my rambling

Thats really good. My niece was born 8 weeks early, she stayed in the hospital for a while until she gained some weight (she weighted 2 pounds and 5 ounces when she was born) but now she is doing fine.

awww dont worry sweetie!! my lil brother was born 7 (nearly 8) weeks early. he was in an incubator for 3 months and he weighed about 3.4 when he was born. now...hes a MONSTER!! a 14 year old MONSTER whos taller and heavier (thank god) than me!! so the chances are the baby will be fine especially if shes breathing on her own! thats an awsome sign!

At 31 weeks, the baby should be fine. If she is breathing on her own, it shows her lungs are developed enough to enable her to draw breath.

Babies can survive at 24 weeks, 'iluvcharmed', and many do. We have so many brilliant doctors nowadays that the youngest babies to survive have been born at just 22 weeks, and as medical science progresses, babies will survive outside the womb before that!;)

When my friend had her baby he was just over 1lb. he stayed in hospital till he got bigger and when he came out he had to have oxygen. He is now 7 years old loves school loves sports very very active in fact i would say very hyper lol bless him and has nothing wrong with him. I wouldnt worry to much. :D
