I'd like to take a small moment to welcome everyone to the Poetry Board and express my gratitude to those of you who do post your own material here. It is a wonderful thing to see how you formulate your thoughts and convey them as poetry.

I would like to drum up some spirit, some life into this board and was hoping to gain your help and support. I browsed the board today and have read a range of your works; truly touching pieces. What I would like to see is variety, diversity and colour in what you post. Can you share pieces you have written on life, art, literature, music?

It is great to see your poems on your favourite celebrities and Alyssa; but this board can be used to showcase so much more. Sit down and type away with a passion on anything that interests you; the colour of your hair, the background noise of the television, your day at work/school/home.

There is so much that can be expressed and learnt through poetry. Please continue to keep posting for those of you who have contributed previously, and for others, do not hesitate to share some of your work.

hello, i am new here,

i love writing poems.

this is one of my poems.

broken feelings

my feelings are confused and broken,
people around me are hard and so not in
to my world of feelings and life
why do people have to be that direct and
that tough with a bad situation?
i can't handle it all anymore
i loved my mum and still do,
o i always hoped she could pull
herself through this desease, this terrible thing
but the end is nearby,
and i can't handle it now anymore...
all i want to say is goodbye,
i will see you again soon, i really hope
i can't do this alone, and have the feeling i am alone
mum i love you, just now go home...

my mum died last friday of cancer....:( :( :( :( :(

Johanna, that is a beautiful, touching poem. It brought a tear to my eye, and I wish to express my sorrow for the passing of your Mum. May she rest in peace. Thank you for sharing, I know it must have been difficult for you to do so.

Ĺh Johanna I'm so sorry about you mother!! I know how hard it is to go through a nightmare like that, so hang in there sweetie.. It is a very beautiful poem you have written, and I know that someday the two of you will meet again..
I have actually also written a poem to/about my sister as she passed away, also from cancer 3 years ago, I think I'll share that as well..

My Dying Rose

1.Once I had you by my side,
Your love and protection
I always felt as strong as the tide.
You were my sister and always will be,
Even though no one can see
You, my lovely sister.

2.The bond we shared was so strong,
As your sister I never imagined you could be gone.
Five years you were older than me
But our relationship was fabulous, better it couldn’t be.
My greatest wish is to see
You, my lovely sister.

3.You took such good care of me,
Your little sister, which I was so proud to be.
I always knew where to find
A helping hand and caring mind.
Why did you have to die?
God needed an angel, that’s why.
When will we meet again? Me and
You, my lovely sister.

4. You were always there for me,
With help, love and support.
When I needed it, you could see
Through me, as one person out of few,
And that is one reason why I love
You, my lovely sister.

5. When you were 19 years old,
You decided to go see the world,
To Ireland you went,
And it felt like we had sent
You away forever, longing for your return.
Finally you came, home to
Me, your lovely sister.

6. Like all fairy tales your life had an end too,
It came so quickly that we didn’t know what to do.
When the doctors realized the cancer in your head,
We were all shocked, you were too young to face death.
But Heidi, you were so strong,
And kept the hope all along.
Cancer is not fair to anyone, especially not to you.
Since there are so many people who love
You, my lovely sister.

7. You were ill for two long years,
Operations and chemotherapy took many tears.
But you were so strong,
With a huge will to overcome
This horrifying disease. Unfortunately it never happened,
I would have given up the world to save
You, my lovely sister.

8. Eventually the doctors had given up hope.
You felt more ill for each day that went,
So every single day spent
with you was a true wonder.
But now the roles were changed,
I was the elder, a wholly new part for me,
I did everything for you since
You, my lovely sister, couldn’t see.

9.On the 23rd of April 2003,
God decided to set your soul free.
I was crying by your side trying to understand
That your spirit just left my hand.
My dying rose, wait for me,
So the two of us again can be,
Together forever…

I'm so sorry about your mom! Here's a poem I wrote about mine.

Crash

Yesterday she was normal
Today she is not
Now I feel horrible
My feelings are caught

In my heart they will stay
Until crash
They'll come my way
Just like they did to her
My eyes burn
with tears of despair
I really do care.

She's so very strong
I know she's not wrong
But I always fight back
Even when I know she's right.

I want to say I'm sorry,
For everything I do bad
I want to say I'm sorry
I'm sorry for the crash.

~A couple of years ago, my mom got in an accident and lost her foot. Now she can walk, but she's still in pain. She's really strong, and I know that we fight, but I love her.

I want to dedicate this poem to Jason Thompson!

Left Handed People!

Left handed people are so unique,
I think it's because of the way we think.
We see things differntly from those who are right,
they can't see what we see, it's gone from their sight.
We have a special aura that's all our own,
it's alive in us even when we are grown.
I don't have the words to explain,
but, we are different just the same.
so the next left handed person that you see, try and understand,
what magic and wonder they hold in that one hand.

Welcome To Our World!

Ladies and gentlemen and kids of all ages,
welcome to our world and all it's many stages.
It's a fact, we are special, wonderful and true,
watch as we weave our magic and present our world to you.
We all have a special light hiding inside us now,
we've found our light, and together we make our vows,
never be defeated,
and never shall we die,
the world watches on as we combine our minds and try.
You were once our leaders, and you led us astray,
now look at our worlds condition, this very day.
Childern high,
babies cry,
dolphins die,
and no reasons why?
Children of the world, hear our reply,
spred your wings it's time to fly!

Fall Is Here!

The seasons are changing,
and our feelings are ranging.
Hang on to our summer,
or grab on to a new number?
I will miss the warm weather,
but I'll pull out a cute sweater.
for the magic of fall is here,
and that means that winter is near.
so enjoy the moment, and whatever it might bring,
and pray we stay together until the next spring.
Tell the one you love, just how you feel,
treat them to a movie, and enjoy a meal.
Never take for granted, this moment that we're in,
thank God for all you have and enjoy the cute men.:D

The Four Horsemen
The horses neighed, the whips were cracked,
In the chilly night and thinning air
Of dawn to come and dews on leaves
A time to pass for everything

Oh how 'tisnt meant to be!

Tick tock... tick tock...
Ne'er a voice nor metal clanging be heard
Nor sound be out of place...
Whispers dreary all unheard
Through silence their thoughts relayed

Tick tock... tick tock...
The men went marching on
With muddy boots and blood soaked suits
And rosaries on their heads,

The soldiers prayed...

Men, boys, grandfathers alike
That they'd see their loved ones again
Mothers, fathers, childrens, lovers
Though they ne'er knew all were dead

Three horsemen leading from up ahead
Looking at all those they had preyed
"Avast m'men! Onward we go!!"
The last kept watch behind - his work thus done

They never got to see the golden rays
O'er the black bridge where ne'er a soul returned
For all who died, their lovers lost
A war that was not to become

Though hard to believe War was led
By Famine, Pestilence, and Death
While the last horseman viewed the scene
From o'er the blood spilt hills
Of men & women, children gone
Through the Apocalypse

He had the last laugh

Dear Johanna,

For all that you have been through,
I wish there was something I could do,
Its hard to loose someone you love,
Just think their watching from above,
They'll never leave our side,
Until the time comes for us to die,
Then we will see them again,
Where we will feel no more pain.
Their loss is only for a while,
Thinking of them should make us smile.

In memory of your mother and my grandfather [who brought me up and was my father figure, died of a brain haemorrhage 6 years ago]
They are right: it still hurts but not as much as time passes.

kind regards,
Jo

Illusion of death and Illusion of life

(It's devote to Alyssa Milano)

I can write many words,
I can say it for you,
Don’t believe, it’s a trap,
Don’t believe in my truth.

I don’t know, but I try,
I don’t know who I am,
Her way very hard,
She can lose herself.

Pure leaf and red rose,
Love and you feel anymore,
I feel you so long,
It’s not just twenty four.

Sometimes you tired,
You have captivity of act,
But I weaken and fall,
Need inspiration for back.

You make me so stronger,
Angel of love,
I think it’s so difficult,
Have many lives.

I rise for good,
For you and for all,
I think that I know,
But I’m sorry – it’s not!

It’s illusion of death,
Or illusion of life?
It’s madness - I’m sick,
Or fantastic love?

These are all gorgeous.

My poems don't rhyme much... I'll leave one here for you to see anyway.

This is one I plan to give to Kerry Ellis one day.

Bewitched:

A shaft of light,
A female figure,
A girl, young, lost, scared,
A girl alone…
A girl dreaming of a different life.

A face in the crowd,
A muse to stop all muses,
A smile to light the way,
A hope so strong it hurts…

A name,
A song,
A prayer,
A wish…

The girl in the light closes her eyes,
Wishing, hoping, dreaming…
I want to make it!
I have to make it!

A failed audition,
A heart broken,
A world falling apart,
Then there she is again,
The muse…

Blonde,
Slim,
Small,
Perfect,
Eyes that bewitch and bewilder…

Could it be?
Could she ever do this?
Would she have the guts?
A memory stirs,
The muse… she met her before
The girl’s face lights as she talks to her muse…
Hope shines through…

An audtion,
A chosen song,
A hope falling apart,
A hope saved,
A wish,
A longing,
A part!

The girl smiles,
Finally!
She has her chance,
She has her muse,
She has a new name,
A character…
Svetlana,
A musical…
Chess,
A delight all too clear…
A word to say…

Inspiring!

She will not dare stop to see how her muse feels after the poem is left, after the card is there, after the flowers.

She speaks into the silence of her room.

“Thank you!”
