its not a case of it could happen again, its a case of it will happen again. and the chance of it happening within the next 30 years is 60% (of a huge earthquake similar to 1906) this would kill huge numbers of people, the government seems unwilling to spend any money on improving buildings. In a recent building survey, the main hospital in san francisco would probably fall down in a major earthquaqe and would be a significant danger to the public, when will they realise that this is a case of when, not if.
