What is your all time favourite movie? If you can only pick one which would YOU say it was?
For me it's the movie Ever After. As a little girl I loved the story of Cinderella. I was convinced that when I grew up I was going to be a princess and marry a prince. At the age of 10 I fell madly inlove with Prince Frederik of Denmark. I even named my cabbage patch doll Frederik. :o Frederik is only 4 years older then me it seemed like a good match. I made my grandmother send me to finishing school so that when Frederick envited me to a royal dinner I would know exactly how to properly bow, and how to hold my silverware, what to eat and what to say. (I think my grandmother was just thinking it would give me good manners) I was going to be the crowned princess of Denmark. At age 16 I wrote Frederik a letter sadly he never responded. I have not lost my love for Frederik, though I have grown up and have a wonderful husband who I dearly love.
Ever After is a beautiful love story about a common women inlove with a Royal man. And with Angelica Houston as the evil step mother (Baroness Rodmilla De Ghent) really you can't go wrong. I think this movie is beautiful in costume design, that is rich in color and character. There is action, romance, sadness and pain. The story of Cinderella has been told many times in many ways, but for me this movie takes the original story and tells it in a unique way. They have even added characters to the movie which give interesting bits of history. For instance Leonardo Da Vinci has a very powerful role in this movie and as we all know he was quite the inventor, so this movie adds his inventions for an interesting twist. Drew Barrymore plays Danielle De Barbarac i.e Cinderella. And Dougray Scott plays the crowned prince of France Henri. This movie stays true to histoy and even takes you through to the French revolution. It is definately a movie for every women who ever wished they could be a princess, and live happily ever after.

LOL...if I were to try and answer that with the literal truth, I can't even imagine how many names would be listed here...but certainly a list way too long to print, LOL...for time's sake, though, LOL, I'll mention two that never seem to get old for me. The first is Smiles Of A Summer Night. It's an early work by the great Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman, and one of his rare comedies...maybe his only one, for all I know, certainly the only one I've seen...and I'm sure not his best film on an objective level. But this story of sets of lovers lost in the woods, at least figuratively, LOL, on a magic night is one that never fails to strike major chords with me. It's always struck me as a kind of updating of the Bard's Midsummer Night's Dream, which has, oddly enough, always been among my favorites of his plays, LOL. As a bottom line, I guess I could say that I think all of my absolute favorite art in some way or another taps into the hidden magic that animates the world, and this film is a perfect example of one that does just that.

The second, on the opposite end of the spectrum in nearly every way , is David Lynch's masterful dark dream of Hollywood, Mullholland Drive. Without a doubt one of the most purely spooky films I've ever seen in any genre, and so perfectly put together...I've probably watched this film 8 or 9 times in the relatively short amount of time since it was made, which is EXTREMELY rare for me. Admittedly, the first two or three were spent mostly trying to unravel it, LOL. But even after I felt that that had been achieved, the film just never fails to fascinate...I still get in moods where I just want to sit and watch it over again, LOL.

Easy.
A Walk On The Moon, with Diane Lane, Viggo Mortensen, Leiv Schrieber and Anna Paquin. Directed by Tony Goldwyn, and produced as an indie by Dustin Hoffman.
It tells the story of a woman (Ms. Lane) who travels to the Catskills Mountains every summer with her family. Kinda like a family at summer camp. She loves her husband and kids, but wonders what life would have been like if she hadn't had to marry because she got pregnant. She gets the chance when she meets a free spirited hippie type (Mr. Mortensen) and engages in an affair.
Two major American happenings serve as a backdrop; The 1969 moon landing and Woodstock.
Great story about what is important in a persons life and what a person will sacrifice for those they love.
Also a great soundtrack; Jimi, Country Joe, Ritchie Havens.
And, most important for me, lot of screen time for my absolute favorite, Ms. Diane Lane. :o ;)
