You know, you could copright your work, then if someone uses it without your permission you'd be entitled to some money...;) (if you complain to the right people about it).

Hi Lisa,

I don't know that restricting access to members only on the Banner Board is something we would be able to do here. I will run this by our Site Adminstrator though.

personally, it doesnt bother me if people use my work, i am honored that they like it enough to want to use it. a suggestion for you lisa...maybe you could make a post when you have new work to show and if ppl want to see it then PM you or something, that way only members can see it. :) :D
i think also that guest's should have "restricted access"....another way to keep everyone safer :D

Hey Feles, are pics without hallmarks copyrighted?

Yeah watermarks, thats what I meant. And cheers for the info on the rest of the stuff.

But!, there are ways to copyright something unofficially, to protect it from other people who don't own the original pics. So if you make something of pics that belong to someone else, and you unofficially copyright your work made of these pics...if someone was to steal that work, and you had proof that it was yours...could the other person get into trouble?

If you don't understand that, I'll try and rephrase.

wouldnt it be easier to NOT post your stuff here? i dont mean you directly brett, i mean in general. :)
if you dont want people to "steal" things you make, then dont post it where they can "steal" it.
its a sad but true reality we all have to face when posting things we make. i dont mind it though, i love seeing my work online :) makes me feel cool, lol.

Thought as much...didn't realise copyright was so strict on pics though. Well at least thats how it sounds. So any public advertisment of your work produced with pics in that have copyright attached could put someone in a lot of trouble, unless permission was given from the owner of the original pics...I bet a lot of people don't realise that when adding home made wallpapers on google images. That would count as a breach of copyright law wouldn't it?, as that is advertising on a public website.

Also I can't help but notice how you make banner making sound border line illegal cause of the pics used. Gonna make me think a little more before grabbing some pics off the net next time for personal work. We just get away with using copyright pics if our intensions are to use them in personal works though right? As long as no money is being made for them yeah?.

Indeed, good info...I'll read up on it.

Also on a last note, I've not broke any illegal copyright laws with pics as of yet, so this heads up was very well needed.

Thanks again.

Hey feles, I've had no time to read the link yet...but i do have a question that you might be able to answer. Okay, so what if your looking at a photo of a person, and you make a drawing of it, how does that sit with the copyright law? Cause you've made a pic from nothing but a reference pic, and as no drawn pic will ever be 100% perfect, that wouldn't make it a copy of a copyright image would it?.
