As I posted in the announcement, Lin Shaye of 'Snakes on a Plane' will be chatting LIVE with her fans in a Moderated chat brought to you by Safesearching.com, Thursday the 31st of August 2006 at 5PM PST.
You can access the chat at that time by visiting www.safesearching.com/chat (http://www.safesearching.com/chat) and her official site at www.linshaye.com (http://www.linshaye.com)
Hope to see you all there! I know she's very excited about it!
Woohoo!!!:D
That's fantastic Scott.:)
Great news to hear.
I hope Zoee can get the day off from school.
I think she is about 16 hours ahead of us which would make her smack dab in the middle of a class. 11am.... wait I mean 8 am or 2:00 pm:p ... rats, Zoee will have to straighten this out for us...
There is no one more deserving than she to ask away at the enchanting Lin Shaye.
Thanks again Scott and Lin,
Vick

ok you guys...just make sure you put enough in the blender for me!! I will be really happy to "meet" all of you! Scott and Ms. Linz...will be coming over to my house. It will be a little bit of a zoo, with Lazer and Molly (my 2 border collies) Mr. Wink my 'ol kitty, and the 2 new kittens: "EEK the Riot, and Mimzy the Mellow" they are 6 weeks old...actually they will be safe in my little office complete with toys and kitty food. But I am really looking forward to it! All is well, and I am hoping SNAKES does well this week end...I am already ready for new adventures..:D :D :D !
Argh... what good news. Zoeeeee is freaking out, jumping up and down and screaming for joy.
Okie dokie, I've worked out that the chat starts around 11am my time, on Friday 1st September. So.. my lunchbreak starts at 11.05, and I will speedy gonzales my way to the library, use my seniority, grab myself a computer and hopefully participate in the chat. *Fingers crossed*.
I'm so glad we're having the chat!! You rock Scott for bringing us the info!! Woot!

If you're putting 'shine or any 'over-age' type concoctions into that blender, you are going to have to provide me with a kiddies mix, being the young'un and all :P
You gotta love zoos Lin, and it's common knowledge that we're all mad around here *points to Alice in Wonderland banner* :D

So I was right the first time with the 11am thing...:p
***pats self on the back***
Remenber Zoee, I can't dip into the "Raggs' shine"
Last time I did all sorts of horrible things happened to by digestive track.
I blame Mander tho, b/c she forgot to put a warning label on my bottle...
"Drink at your own risk"
So for now I'll stick with the fruitee drinks, complete with the cute 'lil umbrella.
Which by the way, can easily remedy any type of shine hangover.
And don't worry Zo, I'll make a special batch just for you.;)
Oh and Lin, Rye and I would be happy to share should you want to have a few during the chat...
Can't guaratee tt won't affect your typing tho;)
Ahh, yes indeed with the Fruitee drinks for Miss Vick! Fruitee drinks still make you fruitee though, although I am guessing it doesn't quite have the zip that the old 'shine does. I'm not shine-inclined however, I am purely a coca-cola girl.. or my new favourite drink this week is choc-peppermint ice cream and milk in the blender - yum :)

Looking forward to it Lin & I very glad Miss Zoeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee will be able to attend.
Now Vick, just because I go away for a day does not mean you can start drinking anything without my permission. It time to clean out the outhouse for you Missy.

***Grabs battery operated blender, hangs head in shame and sculks into the ole outhouse***
No problem Nooker...;)
I'll have it clean as a whistle in no time... or at least in time for the chat... in case Ms Lin needs it.:)
She may have to push the lion out though (that would be Scollzie for those who don't know... He tends to lurk around in there)
You all will enjoy the pristine conditions...
The tattered sign on the front door
The splintered toilet seats...
The one ply toilet paper...
And the fragrant aroma of....
Ms Lin feel free to let Lindze and Scott know they can use it too.
You will have a zoo/madhouse happening at your house so you may need it.;)

Pooh,
I may have to "card" you but sure we'll share...:p
And you may have to meet me and the others in the outhouse as that's where i been sent to(Momma Reesa was a tad cranky) but I think my stint there will be short-lived when she gets a taste of my scruptuous fruitee drink:D
Chat should be fun:eek:
Oh and Pooh I'm glad you iked the movie.
My son just heard that in Macon county 2 rattle snakes were releaed in a theater...
I think that is taking audience participation a wee bit too far.

Hey guys! I'm so glad you are all liking the film! We are hoping to remain "number 1" this week end, and for even better box office. But I really feel it is all a complete success already. There has never been a film that had this kind of buzz for over a year, and was actually "tailored" to what the fans were asking for. I know it will make the studio a ton of money, and become an instant cult classic. I am really happy to have been a part of that! The snakes released in the theater was really insane. If one of the rattlers had freaked out and bitten someone, how sad that people don't think beyond "their joke." All's well that end's well though! Have a wonderful week end, and I am hoping for new things to report soon. xo:D
I hope you guys remain #1 :) I think word of mouth will really boost up the box office - everyone I've spoken to has loved it, which is really good to hear!
Can't wait to hear from you again soon, take care and enjoy your weekend!!
hugs, Zoeee

My new kitten Vaska is bouncing off the walls (I think she was a grasshopper in her past life) so I'm just sending her out there, okay? She'll be the orange tabby bouncing up and down on your doorstep in the morning! (or possibly on Marilyn the rats back)

Lin, you are soo, soo super sweet :) Thank you for the 'get well wishes' during the chat, they made me feel lots better. Don't worry though, I'm a tough little thing, and I'll be up again in no time. I've had some panadol, which helped take away the headache and the achyness. I am going to be healthy and well for the next chat :D I'm just so glad I made it - it really was lots and lots of fun.

I spoke to Zoeeeeeeeeeeee this morning & she is feeling much better but is going to rest this weekend (or no chocolate for her).
Yes you soon will have more fur babies than you'll know what to do with. Let's see it will be about 16 cats, 1 rat, 5 more dogs (if I throw mine into the mix), not sure about the horses. You do have an extra large guest room, right?;)

Actually I can see it as plain as day...
Couple of ticked off dogs on the bottom with a busload of furry cats all grudgingly cooperating and my rat, Marilyn on the very top ready and able to push the doorbell.
The only thing that would make it better is if Mar had a teeny weensy lil hat on her head and a walking stick to reach the bell.:)
Eyeball to eyeball with lin and a big smile on her face, she'd say....
"On behalf of all the moderators and members of Safesearching we are your welcome gift...
We will need 23 places to sleep... How are you set for space?":p
And then talking out of the side of her mouth she'd say, "You better make that 24. Tipper is pretty big and Vaska is in dire need of a sedative:D ";)

Not to mention the Outhouse Nooker! Let's not forget the Outhouse. LOL!!! We must have "facilities" around - especially when the "'shine hits the fan!"
Lin, Tipper is ready, willing, and able to take Poco on. He'll charm him into submission. Trust me, it works! How the heck do you think I ended up with a disaster waiting to happen in my house? LOL!!!!
Is that with or without our resident Lion?
Mander

Yes! We can't forget the Shine and chocolate - oh and Ryebeach and I need room for our 20 "kids" LOL!

Well, you are welcome to ask him to leave, but I doubt even Poco would wander where angels fear to tread. LOL!!!
So yeah, what I'm sayin' is... the lion stays. :D
OK, just checking.
LAUGHING MY SOCKS OFF!!! - That is just too funny, Lin :D Yes, I am hopelessly addicted to the chocolate. Should have seen me when Matt and I went into the city one day and I found Hersheys (I was given some when I travelled through the US and became addicted) - I was bouncing up and down, very excited. Poor boy thought I was more mental than normal ;)
However, I'll be coming to visit regardless of whether there's chocolate or not!! I want to see this barn and the menagerie of pets - you might need some help!!
Over and out :)
EDIT: Oh, I was diagnosed with Laryngitis :p I can't talk at all - good thing I've got my trusty keyboard, or I wouldn't be communicating with anybody!! LOL - I'm all croaky and froggish-sounding.

Don't blame ya... we'll need to plan this carefully. The last time the Lion got a snoot-full and a temper up it resulted in the wearing of a tutu, a cummerbund, a fig leaf and a whole lot of "catitude." I'm thinking this may not be very pretty! :D
Well the fact that Lin has not met him yet, I was concerned she might get ahold of gramms' blunderbust & go after our lion. You know how he hates that buckshot.

ok...all you "animal loverrrrrrrs!"...I have a real question! I have EEK THE RIOT, and MIMZY THE MELLOW...my 2 new kitterns, in my little office for the time being...they are just 8 weeks old. They are comfy and cozy with food they love, water, bed, toys, posts to climb on, couches to destroy and A LITTER BOX WITH "litter" made of newspapaer pellets, called Yesterday's News. (Cute right?) I was told to use that instead of clumping litter until they are older....ok....one box, they use MOST OF THE TIME until I discovered a little "corner" near my desk where they ALSO seem to be peeing and sometimes pooping. Not very nice....I have "cleaned it" and sprayed some "pet oder eater thing" on it, and they must seem very interested in that corner, even though they also are using the kitty box. Any suggestions?? I "squirted" them with a little water when they went near the corner after I had cleaned it, while I was in there. Me being there did not stop them from "starting to pee there..." though. I DO NOT WANT CATHOUSE PROBLEMS>>>if you get my drift...especially when I let them into the rest of the house....2 separated cat boxes perhaps? Putting a cat box in that corner? Tin foil on the floor in that corner? HMMMMM? I will also ask Poco and see what he says, but he will probably just tell them to let it fly wherever!! All advice appreciated!
Hey Lin.
Mayilyn is litter box trained... I kid you not.:D
I did it by moving the litter box to where ever she was going and dropping the pellets into the box.
She would go from corner to corner... after 2 moves she figured out she might as well just go in the box.
I think moving the litter box to where they are going is worth a try.:)
I'm thinking of having Marilyn star in her own training video.;)
Good luck
Very cool site Kath.
And great advice too.

Feles and Vick! thank you for the suggestions re: "kitty pee/poop"...The link you sent me, Feles, was wonderful and full of kitty information. And Vick...I followed your suggestion and just moved the box to that spot, leaving the other one where I had it as well, and ALL IS WELL! They are using both boxes, and are growing leaps and bounds, "LITTERALLY" (You should pardon the expression!) each day!
I was so saddened by the death of Steve Irwin...I watched him all the time...and the strangeness of being "shot in the heart" by this otherwise peaceful creature. It does not seem random at all...It really makes me think deeply about "when it is someones time," and yet he seemed so invincible. His love of all animals was truly infectious. It is a big loss to all of us, and yet who knows what lies on the other side...and what "he may be needed for there!" And Melody...take good care of those little jumping frogs! I love frogs too, and find them so interesting. Everyone take good care, of themselves and their little critters! xo Lin

He was an amazing person. He was such a passionate man. He had many sides to him, while being very funny, he could instantly switch to being serious when needed. He was very aware of his surroundings when working with crocs and snakes, and it was clear from just watching him on tv that he knew exactly what he was doing, which is why it's such a shame he couldn't avoid his recent encounter with the stingray. The fact that all felt safe until the situation turned bad in the blink of an eye makes this very sad. He cared so much about animals and nature, and this was clearly seen when he found something on his shows...a wave of exitment burst out of him.
He will be missed dearly, and the world won't quite be the same without him!.
By the way, the expression made me smile :D.
EDIT: Also, with the media saying it was a "freak accident" is wrong!. Stingrays are made the way they are, to defend themselves the way they did. It clearly felt threatened and lashed out. Theres nothing unusual about that. It's just a message to people saying that they should not mess around with wildlife. And ofcourse if your experienced around wildlife, always always always be weary!.
EDIT#2: And I'll be at the next chat! :o.
Hi Lin :) I'm so glad that Kathy and Vicki's suggestions worked out well for you. Hope Eek and Mimzy are enjoying their new spot LOL.
We were literally stunned into silence when we heard of Steve's passing. It is such a tragedy - I feel for his family and friends. He commanded a lot of respect, being so knowledgeable and gifted in his field. He will be dearly missed by so many people, and I don't think there will ever be anyone like him again.
I will slightly disagree with Brett on the point he made about thinking it shouldn't be called a freak accident. I think it's been called that because in Australia his death was only the 3rd case ever where a stingray attack proved fatal.
I hope you enjoyed your long weekend, Lin :D I'm slowly, slowly recovering from my flu/laryngitis/all sorts of other ailments. I'm back at school, but it is taking all my energy away LOL.
See ya soon,
hugs, Zoeeeeee

It still not un-natural though, as stingrays are eqiuped with barbs for self-defence weather they use them or not. The only freak part about it was how unfortunate steve was to get hit in the heart, thats the only crazy part about it. The fact that he got hit with the barb in general was nothing out of the ordinary as that's what stingrays barbs are for...
The media over here are getting the impression that it was a freak accident by the fact he got hit at all, which I find silly. Theres always a 50/50 chance with wildlife, it just so happens that with stingrays, most people managed to get the good 50 as opposed to the bad 50. So they seen them as less dangerous, yet they could attack at any time.
^^ Hope that cleared up my point a little more ;).

Hi Melody! Yes, I would love to see pictures of your dog...and of the frogs too, if you have any! What are the frog's names? I asked Scott at Safesearching to post some pictures of the new kittens that I e-mailed him. I hope he does! They are really cute! I had them to the vet yesterday, and they are healthy and growing, and love the catnip and scratching box I just got them! It is fun to "extend" your family! ;) :D Lin

Lin,
If you ever want to venture down the road to posting your own pics please let any of us know and we would be more than happy to walk you though the process.
Lord knows I am computer-challenged and I was able to do it...:D
it appears as is we gained a kitty this week to go along with the 2 dogs and marilyn...
She's my son's girlfriends cat and she can no longer keep it due to her dorm/apartment situation.
How we parents get suckered into these types of things I'll never know...:p

It's just impossible to turn down something like that when you know the animal needs care and can't get it where it was...thats how you get suckered into it, you let your heart decide, not your mind ;). I'm sure if you lt your mind decide you would probably get thoughts like "Cat scratching furnature!!!, Wheres the cat?? it's not here!" running through your head and your decision would lean more towards "no" than "yes" <--- well, at least thats how I look at it having not had cats in the house since I was a baby, I probably couldn't look after one all that well :p

That is exactly what happened.
Yurns out the cat is really really cool.
Very well behaved and not antagonistic at all.
Everythime she goes to do her paw thing on my husbands chest... I crack up and wish I had a camera.
Just never thought I'd see the day where we would own a cat...
Here is something else that is funny...
Our 1 dog uses his inside voice to comunicate with her.
She meows and he barks back in a really high pitch. It's hilarious:D

The scratchy-boxes are the best thing ever. Very helpful... And when they venture out look into those lil' plastic corner-protector things I suggested last week. My cat hasnt scratched my couch in ages due to the combination of both.
And your kitty pics are in your gallery (http://www.safesearching.com/linshaye/gallery.html) under "Social Studies". Enjoy!

Your dog has wonderfuul patience to be letting them toy with her/him.
Great job Scott .:D

Aww, your kitties are soooo adorable, Lin!! :) Makes me want to adopt another couple of kittens. Of course that would have to be cleared with my 14, 16 and 20 year old cats first and I don't think that would go over too well. Thanks, Lin, for sharing these adorable photos with us and thanks, Scott, for adding them to Lin's gallery. :)

Your kittens are adorable. I love the pic with the dog & kitten noses touching. I also like how one has 2 stipes side by side on its head & the other has the stripes in a straight line. Make sure you give them an empty paper bag to play attack in.

My kitty's are doing great using seperate boxes - the food has become a problem. The kitten wants to eat Sunny's food, Sunny wants to eat all of the food and in the meantime I'm being eaten out of house and home. Oy!!
Took Vaska for her first vet visit Tuesday, nearly got my arms scratched to ribbons, the cold shoulder for the day, but all is well - both cats were curled up together sleeping and I decided to join them 1/2 hour into the nap they both made me get up. Sigh - cats!

Awww, what adorable kittens, Lin :D They are just beautiful :) Thank you for sharing these with Scott, and a big thank you to Scott for adding them to the website. You both rock!!
I've only had 1 cat in my life, a gorgeous little grey one when I was about 5. His name was Little Bloke (Dads are so weird when naming pets), and he used to sit in this hole we had in the roof. He is very missed, even today, due to the tragic and horrible circumstances surrounding his passing.
Lin -
Kiddens are absolutely beautiful! I love their markings - very unique! They seem to be a couple of characters and full of zest. If they get to be too much I will trade you one horse - erm, very large cat, for both of them. I have some cats who need the rude awakening of kiddens on the warpath. LOL!!
Also a point to ponder - when kiddens are just a bit older and bigger consider a LitterMaid or a product similar. It's a lifesaver. I have the mega for my brood - 4 cats - and I honestly couldn't cope with travel, overtime at work, and all the rest without it.
Newbie in the cat dept....
What is a littermaid?
Well Vic -
As the lady who works the Adopt-A-Pet spot at PetSmart will tell you...
"It scoops poop!"
That's what she really said to a young couple who asked that very same question. It's an electronic litter box that does all the scooping. I could not manage 4 cats and a job without it.
Well that it explains it then...;)
Don't know that I can justify buying that...
But boy that would be a pretty cool.
Turns out my son is looking over my shoulder right now and mocking me that i didn't know that.
He's seen it on infomercials...
Must be that I am out of the loop:p
Thanks for bringing me up to speed.

Hi all you kitten "officianados" (is that a word??)
I didn't know about an electric scooper either. How does it work???? Right now, I am still experimenting with different kinds of litter...there is one from "Nature's Miracle" (that makes... that stain remover stuff...) that is a derivitive of "CORN COBS!!"...it clumps and is flushable, and I guess is not toxic if they "swallow" a little bit while licking either paws. They just turned 8 weeks...so they are wonderful, funny and a handfull, and a little "high maintenance" but I know as they get older it will all "fall into place." But I want to know more about that electric kitty box cleaner! What kind of litter do you use?? (This is becoming a forum on cats and their products!!) Lin

A laser pointer (one not stong enough to burn anything!!) is very fun around cats too...I can sit there for hours making them chase a dot around the room. Keep them active, and in your site too :p.

Though I don't have one, I've seen them. Basically they are liter boxes with an arm attached to it so that it gathers up the clumped used liter & pushes it to one end of the box for easy removal. At least I think that is the idea behind it.
As to kitty litter, I use a clumping, scoopable, deoederizing type that we buy in quantity at Sam's club but I don't remember the name - sorry.
Hey there Lin :D If it isn't a word, we'll make it one ;) It sounds like the kittens are lots of fun, and little bundles of energy :)
