Thats not bad at all Lisa :D. Heres a tip though, about the Wave filter, keep clicking the Randomize button until you get a smooth wavy pattern. That one you have there has lots of little waves, try looking for ones with less but bigger waves in. Also, make sure when you make the colour layer to use brushes with 0% hardness ;).

You got the right idea though :D.
