Or are they?
French Government Report Says Marijuana Poses Less Dangers Than Alcohol (http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=3849)
" Marijuana has low toxicity, little addictive power, and poses only a minor threat to social behavior, researchers at the French medical institute INSERM concluded. The report identified alcohol, heroin, and cocaine as the drugs most dangerous to health. Tobacco, psychotropic drugs, tranquilizers, and hallucinogens were placed in a second, less harmful group. Marijuana was classified in a third category of substances defined as posing relatively little danger."
Low toxicity? Try none; The only way to die from THC (the major "drug" in Marijuana) is from someone else, usually an officer of the law, shooting you.
But then again, it's all about social acceptance, SSRI's are known to cause suicidal levels of depression but they're socially acceptable so they're just fine, and mandated by some schools.
Acetaminophen will cause bleeding of your intestanal walls and liver damage if you take to much.
Aspirin is even worse.
But once again comes that socially acceptable thingy.
Booze? Do I even have to say anything there?
This Buds for you, and if I'm drunk and you say my sports team is bad This Bud will certainly be all over your butt.
Marijuana can be smoked by the pound and the worst side effect you'll have is just wasting your money.
Kills brain cells and reduces sperm cell count?
Try getting statisics for any other drug on that.
Question arises; Why make Marijuana so socially unacceptable?
It's better than the other drugs in terms of what it doesn't do to you.
Contrary to popular belief it's actually been tested to find out if you are a better or worse driver on or off Marijuana and it was found you drive better on it because you are able to stay focused more.
It really does have medicianal value, such as for chemotherapy, glacoma, athsma, these new fangled Anxiety attacks, Chronic Pain treatment and much more.
(Anxiety attacks = Industrial Disease?)
So why outlaw it?
Is it the normal Catholic thinking that if it feels good it must be bad?
(unless used in a way prescibed by the Holy See)
The pharmacutical companies wanting no alternative to thier snake oil (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/S/snake_oil.html)?
The idiotic belief that it is a "Gateway Drug"?
If it's that one we should outlaw water as it is a "Gateway Drug" to every other drug out there, not one person alive has done the heroin before using the Evil Water.
Why would a actually civil civilization outlaw a benificial drug?
