Friday I watched the GW episode about the illegal act of arson regarding the business resulting in the accidental death of one of the own-partners.
I am posting because I think this is a new type of story. Sitting here on the seat of my pants I realize that this new story might have something to do with finding new viewers.
To tell the truth I have no real opinion about a sample new viewer to the show, GW, whom sees his or her first episode that includes this dispicable criminal act, arson and the resulting fatal accident.

-I noticed some of the makeup for the ghosts or lostsouls is even more ugly than the first year.

Trying to remember something similar there was the accidental deaths of the orphan boys in the home where one survivor appeared years later, and also the fellow that Mr. Clancy had to attempt to save after his traffic accident. He had been paroled; but it was uncertain his paternity situation.
And then the finale of the airplane accident last season.
But that was a pilot error not necessarily a crime.
I thought it OK to post that I noticed this even though I do not know future plans or episodes.
What I am trying to say is that I for one do not need a terrible amount of controversy within GW I can watch the performers, the guest performers, which I noted last year in a post.
I think that is a strong element of GW, the guests!
And what I am doing myself is limiting my attachment to GW, all the rest of my video time, by holding on to the sixty minute time frame but also the size of the screen or TV picture which is of course two dimensional; horizontal and vertical but not threeD or including a depth dimension.
I just the noticed the crime, arson, and wondered if the show would continue to be or remain and reture to being mostly Feminine in POV.

Wordy,lengthy opinion....BUT appreciated.

I have noticed the following:

At least 3 character deaths involving fires
At least 3 character deaths in "the woods" area

So, some repetition.

As for the despicable act, it is NOT condoned....If bad acts are shown as being punished, there
is a character lesson learned...To remove all villains from "GW" would not be realistic, I would
think....because,doesn't "Melinda's" character revolve around a CONFLICT between good and
evil?

However, I have noticed some repetition (so has the "Chicago Sun-Times"---who says the show
"looks like it'd been smacked with a cheese-wheel") and, for my money, "GW" should usually be
just 30 minutes (except for certain shows which could be an hour, via 2 30-minute mini-cliff-
hangers.)

Good grief, if you think arson is "dispicable", you don't watch many CSI, Bones, or NCIS episodes, do you? :D

Every drama on tv has some type of act we could classify as "dispicable". Sometimes the world isn't a pretty place, but writers still tell the stories. That's all the GW people are trying to do.

Grams has a good point there. No one is condoning crime in the show. But the very core of drama is the dynamic tension of the conflict between good and evil. So don't feel bad, Neil. Besides, these are not real crimes. The evening news is far more disconcerting than any amount of screenplay, and most of those crimes are not resolved in 22 minutes of airtime. But I can assure you that what you see on Ghost Whisperer is not the cause of real crime, so just enjoy the show for what it is.
