i know that this might not be such a big deal to some people, but for those of you who are animal lovers, this may.
my friend wants to be a vet. shes got a parrot and 2 golden retrievers, giles and harvey. 2 months ago, they had to put giles down, because he was really ill and in pain. my friend is still REALLY upset about it. but last week she found out that harvey had leukemia and would have to get put down. :( he kept collapsing and not eating. hes getting put to sleep today. my friend and her family are going through a really difficult time right now, and could use some prayers. after all, an animal is just like a little brother, or sister.
sorry if this is the wrong place to post this

Alee I can certainly sympathize with your friend. I had to put 2 of my dogs to sleep within a week of each other at the end of 2006 & beginning 2007. I still miss them very much. Our pets are very much a part of our family & we grieve for them as we would for any family member.
I'll keep her & her family in my thoughts & prayers.
Alee please let your friend read this:
THE RAINBOW BRIDGE-meet your pet again
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I first read this piece in an Ann Landers column. Since then my vet has sent me a copy when my siamese cat died a year ago. I have always found comfort in it & wanted to share it with you and maybe give you some comfort too.
JUST THIS SIDE OF HEAVEN IS A PLACE CALLED RAINBOW BRIDGE.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigar; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remembered them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind...
They all play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

^^ lol, that made ME cry, and its been three years since i had to put my dog cara to sleep. i've just emailed it to her, so maybe she'll get it tonight. its weird, after all those years you still half expect them to be sitting in their favourite spot, or i even sometimes imagine i hear cara barking outside to be let in, but its just my imagination. i like to think that somewhere shes barking to let me know that shes still here, but not HERE if you get me. shes my guardian angel i think :)
thanks :)
