Vick....I KNOW NOTHING! One of the directors I worked with is in "the promo" but I have no idea the name of the first film we did, and did not see anything that looked familiar. I am formally "not listed yet" so whoooooooooo knowss??? You already know more than I did....I didn't even know there was a web site! So I will let you know anything, as soon as I do. I only I talked to wardrobe and gave her my height and shoe size...!!
Had a feeling that was the case.
You've been alluding to that all along.
No probs...
Pretty cool site though.
There are a couple that seem kind of lame... and then others that are really good... hence the star system I guess.
Saw the casting board too... Interesting looks for some that is for sure.
Here is a blurb from thier homepage...
What an amazing journey for some up and coming filmmaker...
ON THE LOT, executive-produced by Mark Burnett (http://www.thelot.com/about/mark-burnett/) and Steven Spielberg (http://www.thelot.com/about/steven-spielberg/), will give aspiring filmmakers from around the world the chance to earn a $1-million development deal at DreamWorks.
Airing next spring on FOX, this unscripted series will feature a cast of undiscovered filmmakers who will compete to win the support of the show's viewers, as their fate will be decided by a weekly audience vote.
The competition will air over two nights weekly, with a one-hour "Film Premiere" episode, followed the next night by a half-hour "Box Office" results show.
After a global search, applicants will be winnowed to a group of talented filmmakers. These finalists will be brought to Hollywood, where they will be divided into teams and begin the journey toward their "big break."
Every week, the hopeful filmmakers will produce short films from a chosen genre, running the gamut from comedies to thrillers, personal dramas to romance, sci-fi to horror. They'll have access to the best resources the industry has to offer -- professional writers, cast and crew, and maybe even Hollywood celebrities.
After the teams have battled time frames, budgets and all the usual chaos that goes along with filmmaking, their films will debut and be critiqued in front of a live audience during the "Film Premiere" episode. Judges will include a high-ranking motion picture executive, a prominent film critic and a succession of well-respected guests, such as directors who are experts in the week's featured genre. But the filmmakers ultimately will be judged by the harshest critics of all … the public.
It will be FOX viewers whose votes determine which film should be left on the cutting-room floor. On the next night's "Box Office" results show, the director whose feature garners the fewest votes will be sent home.
The competition continues and directors are eliminated until only the most talented filmmaker is anointed the winner and heads to DreamWorks … ON THE LOT.
My only hope is that the judges "voice" carries some weight in the elimination process... ala Dancing with the Stars and not Amercian idol.
Both are popularity contests but ai is so one sided.
(You and eesa touched upon this in another thread not too long ago)
At least the technical aspect of dancing is taken into consideration...
That is the way this show should be... b/c most audiences rarely understand the complexity of shots, writing and filmmaking in general.
Just my opinion though

it's an absolute pain at times and then again it's an absolute joy at others!
I've been in my film class for 3 years now 9th,10th, and now 11th grade and i've learned so0o0o0o much.
Some people think you just have multiple cameras running 24/7.....when in reality sometimes you only have 1 or 2 and you have to repeat dialogue 2 times maybe even 3 times, at different angles and also focal points(close-ups, wide shots, medium shots)...and then edit it all together!
right now i'm working on my documentary for alyssa milano......it's turning out really good! I can't wait to see the final product!

Be careful, sammy!! You will end up "in Hollywood!" Sounds like you love filmmaking and are working hard to "learn all the angles." Keep it up!
Not sure if anyone saw the first episode but I am hooked.
Loved how they gave everyone a logline and they had to come up with an idea and flush out the details so that they could "sell" it to the jusges/producers.
My favorite one was the rat who was captured and taken to a pharmaceutical company for testing...
Oh the ideas!!!!!
Looking forward to seeing it again.
I'm not sure if it was on again last night. If it was I missed it as my husband and i were filming the High School Bacaleaureate.
More to come next week though.

No Sammmmy! It's just "a figure of speech" as I am sure you know! It is wonderful here, and there is lots of opportunity but one also needs lots of "stubborn persistence" to get what you want. Remember "the journey is the destination." xo

I am hooked! Ms. Shaye, in what capacity have you been contracted with the show (actress, consultant, judge, etc.), if I may ask. Whatever it is, I hope they make good use of your talents.
