I have been looking for a place to share this poster design (1998) with folks. It is just a copy of a proposal and not the finished product, but I think it is still quite pleasant to view. It is one of my very first self-taught Photoshop designs. If you look through the top layer, you may see some fairies ;). I hope you enjoy...

***in best british accent***
I do believe you've thrown down the gauntlet...:p
Well I accept the challenge and as soon as I can take a moment to reflect I will let you know exactly what yu ask...
What is it you are asking again???:o
No You want to know what lovely shades were used by bjcowgal to create such an extraordinary poster.

Hey Vick...what do you CALL those colors???? Can't wait to hear!To begin with....
the shades of purple... which has no rhyme... all fall into the flower category
pretty petunia
geraniam bud
posies
pressed flower and
strawberry freeze

the swirling center is comprised of (what lay-persons might call greens, blues and yellows) but since we are better than that, lets call them by there correct names...

hopeful
winsome hue
ionic sky
heavenly song
vanilla milkshake
arizonia sunrise and
quiet veranda

the devilish little critters scattered throughout are your classic browns but truth be told we will call them...
rootbeer and
chestnut stallion

and finally the writing is done with the wonderful colors of exotic bloom and, our friend, fedora...

And that completes todays lesson.
I will not be able to have office hours today...
Your assignments will be to purchase a box of your very own crayola crayons (minimum 32 count) and color and abstact picture of yourself standing on 1 foot and pointing towards the sky.
I look forward to seeing your work.;)

Vickizzle...you completely humble me...I know nothing...my color ignorance is... overflowing...um...ummm I mean overwhelming, um wait I mean UNDERwhelming...I am going to try what you suggest....standing on one foot, pointing towards the sky....is it acceptable to hold on to a table...while I do that? hummmm? or are my toesies on their own to hold me up? Also, I assume no drinking wine while I am in position...or my foot will indeed, be pointing toward the sky because I will be sitting on my a**!! xoxox

Consider this the official "poetic license" free pass card.
Drinking can be allowed only if you are of age and you have a designated driver that can take you from your den to your bedroom.
I would not even consider asking raggs for her "shine" recipe ... as it has been known to burn right through canvas.
Fruitee drinks are recommended.

I read Lin that you have down some artwork... I will be expecting something concrete on my desk with in the week...
Enjoy your weekend and remember... Colors colors colors... it's all about colors:cool:

This is a poster from a musical I did in college. The exploding light has over 5000 layers. While it is was no "Midsummer," it was still a fun poster to do.

Got it!! It's GORGEOUS!! KEEP 'EM COMING! I am trying to figure out what I can share. I have a story I wrote after my kitty Mr. Wink died last Thanksgiving. It is so sad, but I feel, enough time has passed that I could share it. I just have to figure out how to cut and paste it into the thread. I will give it a try, and there is a little "computer" picture I did of him I will send to.

Hey Everyone, thanks for kind comments. I am happy you enjoyed the poster. To address a few things...

Vick: have at it! I love the color descriptions you gave for "Midsummer" poster. That was quite enjoyable for me ;).

Bill & Mona: with reference to the 5000 layers. I didn't know what I was doing. I hadn't finished reading the book before I had to start on the project . So, being self-taught, I figured out the best way for me to manipulate the few capabilities of the program that I knew :o. Now I would not need to use 5000 layers to get the image and intensity that I wanted for the explosion. And, trying to design/create the poster, get through 21 hours of course work that semester, stage manage one show, and learn the song/dance routines for the last semester show (Basically Broadway), the poster was complete not one single day before 3 months and on the same day it needed to be at the printers. I had to finish the poster, get three signature approval in three different areas of campus, and then convince the printer to do it for the agree upon price (using a black background was way too much ink for them and they want $1200.00 for 300 posters). This was the my final poster!

Howdy All:

Here is a poster I did in MS Word. It is from 1997 or 1998. I hope you will enjoy it as it is from one of the most fun Broadway musicals every produced...

These are the equivalent of sketches for a painting. I presented these for a friends play, but we used it instead for the Directing class's productions of one act plays.

[If you were able to see the fairies in Midsummer's Poster, then you may be able to see the man, reaching his arms up in triumph, in the background.]

This version has no obsure images.
