Just add the next sentence(s). Here goes the start of our very own book:
We had only just got in when it started to pour, which was odd for the time of year.

In fact it appeared to be raining . . . reoooooooooooooooooow . . . no sooner had the thought entered my head than a large siamese fell on my head from the tree branches above.

The shriek I let out surely could have been heard three towns over. I sprung forward nearly twisting my ankle on my son's toy cars, which were scattered all over the ground.

The biggest car, a Jeep Wrangler, shot out from under my foot and skittered end over end across the wet driveway, reminding me of the other odd thing-- next to the unseasonable rain-- that we had seen earlier that day.

And that wasn't the only thing that seemed afoot.

The story so far:

Just minutes earlier I had been walking down the street when I caught sight of a worm chasing a bird.

It was an early worm. It had gotten up that morning at 5am because it had a meeting in at the board of Microsoft. They were designing a new operating system called "Bird". The worm was their principal software engineer...the bird he was presently chasing was for demonstration purposes only.

They'd decided on that name after a short deliberation with the boss, having decided that since this was to be an alternative to Vista, they might call it "Altern-Vista", or even "Altavista"!
The new name came to them after they made these suggestions to the boss, who in turn flipped them the bird without even uttering a word.

The bird made loud squawking noises in protest. He wasn't used to being flipped. Worm then suggested that they all go and have breakfast at their newly acquired restaurant chain...McDonalds...but most of the guys wouldn't eat that rubbish for worm fecal pellets!!! So Worm then suggested they go to that little Thai joint down the road. They all agreed on that.
The bird was left to ponder it's own fate.

Rainy days always brought with it strange occurrences. The screen door shut loudly as I entered the darkened halls of my home. A sudden rush of warmth enveloped my body as I swayed through the memories of first love.
Having had a cat jump on my head and nearly twisting my ankle, I seemed to be placed in a trance of pure tranquility. With each breath, the house called and embraced me in such a way that was completely unexplainable.

before me stood the last person on Earth I expected to see. My brother, who I thought had died over 15 years prior in an automobile accident, in which I had been driving, But, now, long after I'd settled that dark part of my past, here he was, some 5 feet in front of me. Was I dreaming?

No. It was a nightmare. A nightmare of self-loathing that I had never fully managed to erase. Why hadn't I been more thorough in my search to recover my brother's body? Why had I allowed the search to be called off after only two days? And did my lack of thoroughness have something to do with the torrid love affair I had fallen into? A love affair with my brother's one true love. She who was at this moment entering the kitchen through the back door.

My brother's body shimmered. I realized he was only an illusion as I saw the wall through his corpse. But I wondered what was he doing here as he glared at me blankly, his face barely moving? Was he here to chastise me? Interfere with my date? It was weird enough that we had started dating after her next boyfriend after dating my brother turned out to be a cheating chump and she had clung to me for support and for being the only one who'd listen. But now that we'd been through things together and had a slightly more established relationship, it seemed like it should be none of his business. Without knowing his place I scowled at him and told him this was not the time.
PS I know this is an old thread, but let's see if we can get it going again...
