but I gotta! And once again, I'm not going to debate this. Ridicule me, reduce me to nothing (at least as much as you THINK you will in your own little minds.) This is my OPINION and I won't talk any further (at least not in this thread.) So, here we go.....

Let's say I break into your house

A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials
in ages!!! It explains things better than all
the baloney you hear on TV.

Her point:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place
across the country protesting the fact that Congress
is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that
the US might protect its own
borders, might make it harder
to sneak into this country and,
once here, to stay indefinitely.
Let me see if I correctly understand
the thinking behind these protests.
Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover
me in your house, you insist that I leave.
But I say, "No! I like it here.

It's better than my house. I've made all
the beds and washed the
dishes and did the laundry
and swept the floors. I've
done all the things you don't
like to do. I'm hard-working
and honest
(except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:
You are Required to let me stay in your house

You are Required to feed me
You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family
(my husband will do all of your yard work because
he is also hard-working and honest, except for that
breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out,
I will call my friends who will picket your
house carrying signs that proclaim my
RIGHT to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have
a nicer house than I do, and I'm just
trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working
and honest, person, except for well,
you know, I did break into your house
And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a
fraction of the cost of my keep, and
there is nothing you can do about it
without being accused of cold,

uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and
bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn
MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can
communicate with me.

Why can't people see how ridiculous
this is?! Only in America .
if you agree, pass it on ( in English ).
Share it if you see the value of it.

If not blow it off.........
along with your future Social Security
funds, and a lot of other things.

Who in the heck are we kidding? Congress and the President have allowed this mess along with others such as the mess in Iraq, healthcare, etc. to go on for ages. They don't care about the borders. All they care about is themselves. Anything that helps put money in their pockets, gives them an opportunity to "show they care" when it's really the opposite.....

I say.... why would someone want to come here where Social Security is in jeopardy, we have a healthcare system that pays doctors who work for the healthcare companies to deny patients care, where we outsource jobs to other countries and our government gives corporations tax breaks for it? Shall I go on?

I'd take this post seriously if our government wasn't such a huge joke!

Since you refrain from debating the matter further there isn't really a point in giving you my opinion, is there?

I'm not going to debate your subject but I wanted to stop by and say that...

I think you're better than this, Bob. I think you are capable of formulating excellent arguments about YOUR point of view and that you shouldn't have to rely on chain mail propaganda to do so.

When I come to this board and when I share my political opinion it isn't so I can stomp off or get angry for people disagreeing with me, it is because 1) I honestly believe something is right and most of all 2) I want to LEARN. I want to hear about why my stance may be wrong and I want to hear different positions so my ideas can be shaped more fully. That's the beauty about sitting back and taking in other people's ideas; you may not agree with them but listening to them allows one to better defend and understand their own.

Just sayin'.
