We had given her a baby aspirin in peanut butter, as her arthritis bothered her, and she was still in such a grieving process for her brother, Bogie, who was put down Jan. 10. I had been holding her quite a lot, as she needed it, and I wasn't feeling well due to a cold. When Paul came home she went to him, and wanted to sit with him, which is a little unusual, as she usually wants me!! Anyway, she settled in, and I went to bed as usual; Paul woke later in his chair, and tried to put her down, but she just flopped. He thought she was just too sleepy to wake, so he put her in the cage.
At 4:30 he woke me saying, "She's crying for you."
I immediately went to the cage, and found her stiff! He obviously didn't hear her! But neither of us could go back to sleep then, so we talked about her for a little while.
She was always a "back talker,"as she would grumble if things didn't suit her. Since her brother has been gone, she NEVER talked back! It was as if her personality changed. She looked for him constantly, and had a hard time even eating her food, as she had no one to compete with. We were so glad we had arranged a "spa day" for her at the boarding kennel last Sat when we took that long bus trip into Kentucky. While we were gone, she received not only her regular grooming, but a "movie time with a lap to sit on, and a snack, a massage. That meant she got more individualized attention.
We will always miss her! She was 13 years old, and the best little female dog we ever had!</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR>
