When you misplace your pot, do you hunt and peck a lot?
And look where you just looked before?
In the corner of the desk in the very same drawer.
Do you go back and forth like a mapped out course?
And check everyplace that you just now retraced?
And look where you just looked before,
In the corner of the desk in the very same drawer.
Do you check every pocket as the clock is tick tockin'.
And your brain is all locked up, so you chalk up another look
Like you just looked before?
In the corner of the desk in the very same drawer.
Do things keep getting worse, as you verbalize and curse
The manufacturers of the couch? As you rip the cushions out,
And slide a hopeful hand down into the depth of the devan.
Then sneak a peek underneath on your belly on the floor.
And then you stop to ask yourself, "What the hell am I lookin' for?"
Then you snap like a trap and get back on track,
And look where you just looked before.
In the corner of the desk in the very same drawer.
Do you slip on your slippers, and zip up your zippers,
And scratch your head as you look in your car?
In the tray; down the seat. Then a quick repeat.
Then a fast retreat, to look where you just looked before.
In the corner of the desk in the very same drawer.
Do you sit down and ponder as your brain begins to wander?
"Did I leave it over yonder?'"
So you rush and look where you just looked before.
In the corner of the desk in the very same drawer.
Do you say, "Hell I give up... It's lost, and that's just too damn tough.
Where the hell did I put that stuff????"
So you rush and look where you just looked before.
In the corner of the desk in the very same drawer.
And you find it!!! And you are reminded of what
You were supposed to remind yourself before.
That you put your pot away. 'Neath a High Times rolling tray.
In the back of the desk in the very same drawer.

It happens with car keys too you know.
