I came across a review of the pilot at a tv news/blog site called thefutoncritic.com

It is a positive review, especially for Alyssa and Amanda Detmer. The person says Alyssa is endearing as ever, and very capable of carrying a show. The critic also compares the show to "Samantha Who?", stating if you're a fan of "Who" you should also become a fan of "Parents".
