Dancing with the stars has been advertising their premier tom night monday. I wondered if Alyssa might ever be a "dancing star" A woman I went to college with will be on it named Misty May. She was captain of the Long Beach State womens volleyball team in 97 and 98 the year I was there. I lived in the dorms with a lot of the other women on the team. I think Misty was the only white woman on the team; the rest were very tall black women. I lived in the dorms with most of them I think. Misty's volleyball partner Keri Walsh played on the Stanford team at the same time. Stanford won the college championship that year and Long Beach state the following year. Misty and Kerri teamed up after college and have been the most dominant volleyball team in the history of the game for the past 5 years or so; including gold medals in the last two olympics. I got both of their autographs a couple of years ago at a tournament in Huntington Beach. Sorry I guess this is a little off topic.

How cool that you went to school with MM Treanor! I think the hight point of the Olympics was watching the two of them win Gold. I think I remember hearing a little clip of an interview with her in which she talked about going on "Dancing". She's so athletic, I'm sure she'd shine.
I would think that there would be kind of a two sided aspect to going on the show. On one hand, it's a huge hit, and everyone on earth watches it, so is there any such thing as bad exposure at that level? But on the other, I've always kind of gotten the impression that the guests that court being on that show are perceived as being the sort of B team celebrity who's looking to upgrade their image. I mean, you'd probably never see, let's say, Angelina Jolie on there. I think that if you are someone in Alyssa's realm, you risk being perceived as this whether you are or not, and that has it's own risks. On the other hand, it can't hurt to put yourself on TV in front of a few trillion fans. I am always surprised at who shows interest on being on this show, from football players, to our own NBA team owner here in Dallas. I mean, when I see Marie Osmond foaming at the mouth about getting on the show, I'd be a little leery about the message I were sending were I considering going on the show. Just my observations about the show, and I might be way off on this.
I think Alyssa would shine on the show, and I have a sense that she's probably a pretty good dancer - she's very athletic and graceful. She's been dancing all her life, as well, going all the way back to her experience in "Anny". Who knows? Maybe she will show interest. I'm not much of a dancing fan, so I don't generally watch, but if Alyssa were on "Celebrity Grocery Shopping", I'd tune in.

Does Alyssa still brushed up on her dancing? I know she danced a lot as a girl, but now??Hmmm. Maybe she needs a partner, so we will have to fight for it. Actually, I'm not really Dancing with the Stars material, but Alyssa if you're reading this, I promise to try real hard and take lessons and stuff--really I do :)

Misty May is her maiden name and her name when she was in college. The Treanor part is her husbands last name and now her last name. Her dad was a big volleball player I understand and he taught her how to play volleyball when she was just a youngster. Her mother died shortly before the olympics 4 years ago. Misty spread some ashes on the volleyball court after both of her gold medals in honor of her mother.

I remember them talking about her doing this on the Olympics TV coverage. How cool. Must have been pretty emotional.
