If Alyssa Had......

Ok peeps.....if Lyssie had another career other than acting, what career do you think she'd be in??:D:D

Alyssa has expressed an interest in Chinese and holistic medicine, and I think she'd do very well out of a career in this field. She has the intuitive understanding and compassion for people that would bode well for a doctor in these areas. Actually I feel she'd make a great doctor, anyway.

I also think she'd make a great photographer....you only have to look at the standard of her work to appreciate that.

I also think she'd be great behind the camera....as a director, producer or editor.

Even in the fashion industry.....she has a great eye for cut and style (runs in the family:D)

Or as a writer.....she has imagination and an eye for detail that would come in handy here.

One career I don't think would suit her.....being a politician. Lyssie is too honest and caring for that. If the world was a different place and they rewarded honesty, integrity and principle, then she'd make a great politician. The way things are, I'd be afraid for her. I'd back her 200% if she wanted to become one, but I'd be watching her back as best as I could.

I agree...however Lyssie is a big softy. It'd get to her and she'd end up really upset seeing the sick kids. But she'd still be good at it:D

I think she'd be a very good veterinarian. Because she loves to take care of the animals. I know she loves dogs, cats, horses and birds and she has dogs and horses. And I also know she had cats. So, she'd be very good as a veterinarian.

My two cents on "what if Alyssa had become a..." (great ideas, Oz and Gary):

I’m the child of creative parents, and as a musician, I’m around a lot of creative types. The thing that has always fascinated me is that creative types are rarely ever just talented in one vein. I know artists who are also musicians, musicians who are also actors, actors who are both artists and musicians, writers who are artists, etc. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it is the norm rather then the exception. Martin Mull is a great painter. (He was a graduate of Fine Arts before becoming an actor/comedian). Jonathan Winter's paintings are not only considered serious works of art, but sell for tens of thousands. Steve Martin, fabulous banjo player. Carrie Fisher's "Postcards From The Edge" was a good enough book to have a movie made out of it. Viggo Mortensen had his poetry published before becoming an actor. Dennis Hopper was a photographer before acting. Pierce Brosnan was a commercial artist before acting.

Choice 1) Musician: I’ve mentioned before on here that I’d love to hear Alyssa pick up on her singing again. You can tell from her speaking voice that she has a great singing voice. A quick glance at her family, and you can tell that creative pursuits are everywhere. I was not at all surprised to learn she played the flute and piano. She has small hands for the piano, but I can see her all over the flute. Or any other instrument she would pursue.

Choice 2) Photographer: I was amazed when I looked at Alyssa's "lightbox" of her black and white photography. My dad was an artist as well as a teacher of art, and I remember him telling me that people are born with "an eye" for framing/composing pictures/photographs, and that it's almost impossible to teach this is they don't have it innately. Alyssa clearly has this.

Choice 3) Pediatrician: I totally agree with this one! She would be amazing. She literally comes alive around children.

Smart, talented, creative, sensitive people are just the most beautiful people on the planet to me, and she is certainly one of them!

When I read the title of this topic, your idea instantly came to mind. Good call on mentioning it. Alyssa is very animal-friendly (especially with dogs & horses), which is one of her strongest attributes. I love a woman who loves dogs. :cool:

I know Alyssa has mentioned that had she chosen another career to go into; she woulda gone into medicine... pediatrics or veteranarian. It's so easy to see why a smile is the second most contagious thing in the world. Intesting that there has been mention of holstic medicine; her smiles are ALWAYS warm and from her heart... SOME things ya just CAN'T write a prescription for !

Music... yeppers; she's been down that road and it's paved with platinums !

Politics...OUCH !! As an elected official; I'm convinced that IF she were elected to ANY office Alyssa would be as giving as in any other role... but I couldn't in good conscience put her into a postion where she would have conflict in her inner most beliefs to preserve life than to put lives into harm's way.

Like Emerson pointed out years ago, "The artist must be sacrificed to their art. Like the bees; they put their lives into the sting they give" it is more believable that Alyssa would indeed make an AWESOME First Lady comparable to the likes of Jacqueline Kennedy and Nancy Reagan. Chalk it up to things that run in the family. Think back to when Arnold played her dad; now watch Demolition Man to learn he has a Presidential Library !

I think something with horses. She loves horses. Maybe raising them as a breeder for ranches or, personal thing, for racing like at Belmont or the Kentucky Derby. That way she would get to ride whenever she wanted and she is small enough that she could be a jockey too, I bet. Jockeys are rad. :) Maybe she'll do it anyway. If she won the Belmont or another she'd get a big trophy for her mantle too. That would look good on her ranch. Of course, with her dough, she could retire tomorrow, but I really hope she still does a lot more films and shows for us all to see.

I guess I should have said "Music, again" or "Music, redux", Larry. I know she's talked about how hard it is now to be taken seriously here as a musician because of her actor start status, even though her stuff sold so well in Japan in the late 80s. I'd love to hear a contemporary Alyssa recording. Maybe Cory could write some songs for her. I read somewhere that she built a recording studio in her house when she was married to Cinjun Tate. (But I think perhaps that's not the house she currently lives in). I'd love to hear a new Alyssa CD. I'd take her seriously!!

Just thought of two more jobs Lyssie would be great at....radio announcer and a TV show presenter:D:D. She has a good voice for hosting on radio....talk show, sports or music program.

Reesa, you mentioned a kindy teacher.....actually I think she'd make a great lecturer at uni. Her voice is melodic and that would keep the students interested in what she had to say:D An acting or arts lecturer.....maybe even in photography:D

Politician: Well, I'd vote for her, cos I know that woman would do the right thing, but I couldn't do a job like that cos I'd get too frustrated seeing all the evil that goes on at the will of those appointed to make things better. I think it'd be the same for Lyssie. A great asset for any government, but too stressful for anyone so genuine.

I would love to see the outcome of an AJM small scale movie.
