Lyssie, I didn't want to post it on your blog at MLB, but your camera's lens isn't so great. Actually it's probably a defective lens. Have a look at little Gibson's photo when you get the chance. There's way too much geometric distortion and chromatic aberration in the piccie to be accounted for by perspective differences due to the way your shot the piccie. The chromatic aberration wouldn't be effected by the perspective difference, anyway. It looks like you have what they call pinched optics. The lens hasn't been made properly and has a slight ridge in its shape. That ridge itself looks thicker down one end than at the other, as well. Plus it runs at an angle across the lens. Just thought I'd let you know, just in case the lens you were using was an expensive one. That would ruin your piccies if you used it for too many of them!!:eek:

BTW, pinched optics can also be cause where the lens has been forced into the wrong shape by pressure being applied to parts of the lens. It's effectively squeezed out of shape.

Thanks for the link! I especially liked the exchange between Alyssa and Mr. Kennedy. Knowing someone like him in the sports broadcast media is a good thing. I suspect that if ever a media sports photog got too close to Alyssa Mr. Kennedy would politely ask if they have good insurance on their camera equipment. If not, then it might be in their best interest to move on. Very cute picture of Gibson!
