Happy 4th everyone!

I hope you all had a great long holiday weekend. Dave and I went to the Hollywood Bowl Fireworks Spectacular on Friday the 2nd. We took my parents and had such a great evening. The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra performed with a few talented guests, like Marilyn Horne, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and THE MUPPETS!!!! All the kids sang along with Elmo and Big Bird, and everyone loved the combination of "Stars and Stripes Forever" with a Fireworks display. It was the perfect way to celebrate the Fourth of July!!!

are you named after anyone or is there a story as to how your parents decided to name you Alison? – Steph

Well, my mom likes to tell the story of how they almost named me Jennifer, until my mom found out that was the name of one of my dad’s old girlfriends! So she nixed that idea right away. I think my parents just really liked the name. My middle name is Jane, named after my favorite aunt. I am very close to her, so it’s really cool that I was named after her.

I know you love horseback riding (as so do I), and I was wondering do you ever want to go back to competiting in competitions if you were to ever have the time to do so? - Amy

I miss riding all the time. Ari is always telling me about her horses, her competitions and stuff and I get so envious! I know I’ll get back into it one day, it just seems like I don’t have the time right now.

was just wondering how you have so much time with the show, the website, AND doing the book signings. I was also wondering, do/would you ever plan on coming to Massachusettes? – iloveali

I have been pretty busy lately. And once you include making time for my husband and my family, I have to admit it’s very difficult fitting everything in. That’s why sometimes I go several days without posting – I check in and lurk just to see what’s going on when I don’t have time to post. Sometimes it gets frustrating reading posts wondering where I am, etc… I try my hardest to make time for everything, but as I’m sure you all know in your own lives, there are never enough hours in the day!!!!
To answer your second question – I am collaborating with my publishers now to come up with a list of cities for me to do book signings in the rest of the summer. I really want to make sure I get to see everyone… as soon as we get definite dates, I’ll post them on my book site (www.allthedayssofar.com)

I was curious if you were still interested in directing in the future or have any plans to do so! – Ann

These are similar questions for me, because if I wasn’t an actress I’d definitely want to be a Director or Producer… something involved with the ‘showbiz’ industry. I love TV and Film, and feel compelled to be a part of it in any way I can.

Thanks for posting Ali! Isn't funny to think about what you were almost named? I was actually supposed to be a boy and my parents were going to name me Bryan. That would have sounded really bad with my last name. Good thing I was a girl. My sister really wanted a little brother and asked my parents to name me that anyways. Thank God my parents didn't give their consent on that one! Lol!

It sounds like you and Dave had a really good time Friday night, Ali. My hubby and I took our kids to see the fireworks Saturday night in a town about 10 miles from our hometown and they were the best we've seen in years. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Be glad your parents didn't name you Jennifer. It was the most common name for girls born in this country from 1970 to 1984. There are far too many of us out there. I graduated with six other Jennifers. I always joke around that all the Jennifers of the world are going to give their kids original names, so there'll be a whole generation of kids named Apple and Orange, LOL. Then they'll want to give their kids more common names... it's a vicious cycle!! /images/graemlins/grin.gif I personally think the name Alison is really pretty, and I'm not just saying that. I wish my parents had named me something other than Jennifer.

I guess fans generally expect "generic" letters, etc from stars, but you put the personal touch on your replies. That puts you head and shoulders above the rest!

Ali thank you very much for posting. I am so happy that you had a great 4th with your hubby and family. My father and myself took my 8 year old son to see the fireworks at a place about ten minutes from our home in Newport, RI. We had a beautiful display this year of fireworks because the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship was visiting our port so this year the display was extra special.

I live in Eureka, California. My 4th was ok. My b/f and I and our kids, (his son), and (my two daughters) watched fireworks from the Bay and we let some off ourselves. It was a fun moment. While it lasted. Other than that we really didn't go anywhere for the weekend like last year. We went to Great America. But while we were there, we left to go have lunch somewhere and came back to the theme park and every line was so jam packed, that we just went back to our hotel room and we were going to go back there to watch fire works, but everyone was going there and it was jammed pack. So over all our vacation last year was pretty bad.

/images/graemlins/crazy.gifMy life has been pretty crazy having my oldest daughter here for the summer, that I missed a week of Days. So now I have to catch up on it. Yesterday, I watched it though. It was pretty good. Especially how Sami was boo hooing about what ever she was watching on television. And how she had a vision about being with Lucas. And then Belle shows up and Sami thinking it was Lucas. /images/graemlins/grin.gif The story line is good. I like it. It's just that my life is so busy with my daughter here, cause she acts like I have to entertain her all the time. LOL But I will catch up on the soap opera.

I am trying to lose some weight after my doctor told me that I am overweight which maybe a side of effect of some medication that I am on as a result of being very depressed a year and a half ago...Do you have any tips on how to lose weight, good snacks and meals, and exercise type stuff to lose some weight. You are so beautiful and I want to know stuff like this from you because I know you had a weight problem and I am not really having a problem but I just want to know what you do to lose weight when you have to and how you maintain your weight and stay looking good and in shape.
